We have had a major clean of a hotel where bed bugs and dust mites had become a real problem, just cleaning carpets etc will not and did not cure it.

As a result we removed all the beds and bedding along with the linen and pillow cases and had them deep frozen down to -20 in an industrial freezer.

Results are beyond belief, problem solved in the bedrooms with no cleaning or spray applications required , now we are to remove the soft furnishings from the lounge and do the same.They are already looking to have another site done using the same process.

Its so simple and with such fantastic results that we are to open up a whole new side of our business to this process and market it accordingly.

If you ever come across a client or clients who are experiencing difficulties with allergies and bed bugs etc this process is a must, you can add on vacuuming of mattress's etc collection and delivery and 3-6month contracts if a commercial property.

We are so impressed with the results that we intend to have a plant built to accommodate the expected work and will be available to take deliveries from your good selves if you can not find someone locally, which admittedly is very difficult as their is not too many 800 sq ft deep freezers around 

The freezer will take beds,mattresses ,sofa's, electrical items all clothing, curtains, carpets ,rugs etc etc. It will kill all bugs,mites,lice and render their droppings (which trigger allergic reactions) benign.

This would be a great add on to your existing business to offer this service and open up a whole new area of potential clients in the health residential care sector, hotels, B&B's etc. Being able to solve a major problem would be a massive benefit to you and your clients, instead of just spraying solutions every where which are very hit and miss any way and generally do not solve the problem, you can offer a guaranteed fool proof service, which greatly improves sufferers quality of life and if its a hotel, ensures they will not be closed by health inpsectors or suffer poor press/reviews due to guests experiencing bed bug bites. As was the case above and why we were called in.

I think it's right. I know it's recommended for dust mites.

Problem is you still have the old mite poo which is what people react to.

Of course its right, i thought it was common knowledge that sticking the kids furry toys in the freezer when they suffer from asthma was recommended,

Freezing will kill the dust mites and deal with their droppings, but the bed bugs are a different story. These can hide in door frames, skirtings and any other area's in the room, so a different approach would be needed to deal with the problem.
Great idea for the furnishings though.

i have 2 questions though; seeing how its the dust mite feaces which cause the asthma reactions and waht-not, how does freezing deal with that?

Two, don't the freezers get contaminated?

Derek your quite right, bed bugs can live elsewhere in the room/building which is where your add on service comes in to effect, treating these areas and carpets of course.But you can literally decamp the whole room to a freezer including electrical items (where bed bugs will live) wardrobes tables carpets etc. You just have to treat the remaining hard surface areas.

Any bed bugs that have burrowed their way down in to the padding of the mattress will be destroyed in the freezing process,

The freezer if running at a constant -18 to -20 it can not in any way shape or form become contaminated.

I have already explained about the farces becoming inactive after freezing so not able to trigger any allergic reactions.

We have been contacted by a hotel for a quote that wants a carpet lifted in a room due to flea contamination, frozen then refitted and cleaned. We are going to do it for free to test results which we believe will be 100% positive.

Bed bugs are transportable and of course with a hotel or guest house the chances of another out break would be significantly higher than a domestic property

So I don't mind if they are back in 2-3 months time more business for us, which is why we will try and get them under contract for 3-6 month service,

As I understand it and Im no expert, the mites are made up of 80% water and when deep frozen they expand and burst, same for the droppings,incidently normal freezers which operate at -1 to -5 will not destroy the droppings and reidue it has to be deep freeze.

Of course in any situation you can not eradicate all dust but for allergies you do not need to, only reduce it significantly as it does in this case.

I think it may be the bacteria feeding on the feaces that actually causes the allergic reaction. This will obviously be killed off during the freezing process.
