Hi

Does anybody run there truckmount without the fresh water tank.

I have just bought a Spitfire 3.2 from Mike and want to fit it in a Fiat Scudo so space is at a premium.

Don't know how you could manage without a tank, it would seriously restrict the jobs you could take on. Doesn't this machine have a submount tank? It would be worth changin your van to something that would take the weight.

how were you planning on running it without a fresh water tank?
you would have to have a hose pipe to your custys house every time, which would mean they'd need an outside tap to connect to. Also people with water meters might not be too happy with this as a truckmount works diferently to portables in that they use more waterthe pressures may be similar or the same but the water flow from a truckmount is higher

You can buy plastic 80 gallon tanks for around £150.  Then all you need is a pump.

Or get a subtank made from your local welder.

Or buy a sub tank from hydramaster.

I have had a TM for over 5 years and NEVER had a freshwater tank.

I use a hoselock retractable hole and reel, and carry a spare hose and reel. I have lots of different connectors for square, round, weird and strange taps, plus those to fit on to the outside taps. A trip to B&Q and buy all the different types they have and you can not go wrong. Most custards (90%) have outside taps.

And I am not the only one with this set up, as I stole the idea from Phil in Northampton, who tok it off David in Scotland and so on.

Why bother with carring all that weight in water, extra fuel use, when their is an alternative.

And before anyone starts, I am not saying this is the best way. Having the water on board must make life easier, all I am saying is its an alternative, and one that works very well.

I have got the Hydramaster submount tank but it really needs to go in something like a LWB Transit.

I am going to keep the tank and if all goes well can buy a bigger van at a later date.

I have a Citreon Dispatch, same as a Scudo, I have a Steamway SideKick TM, very similar in power to the spitfire. It is mounted on top of a 70 gallon sub mount tank. Little head room but sufficient. Hose reels in the rear etc.

try and get a bigger van! I have TM's,one in a transit and one in a LT35 and even then I seem to need more room on times!I know a guy that has a spitfire with sub mounted water tank mounted in an LDV cub but he doesn't even have room for hose reels so the hoses are just loose in the back of his van
