Also, hozelock reels are standard sizes and if there was an add on that could be fixed easily to this type of reel, it could broaden your market to anyone with a hosereel.

Jo, I think the main thing here is buying your parts in bulk from a trade shop, so that when you sell your product you have as much of a profit as possible. Also, I would just set up a eBay shop, easy and cheap.

As for patenting it, if you use off the shelf items, that might be tricky, not to mention costly.

I would definitely have a chat with Alex about it, see where that gets you. He has got some good ideas, and is very honest etc.

At the moment I am in the usa, I went fishing for catfish today, when I went to the local store to get some bait they were also selling the line eyes that you feed the fishing line though.

These come in various sizes and they weigh next to nothing, so when I come back next week I will fix them to the collars on the slx, which should solve the problem of the dirt sticking the poles together.

The problem with the velcro solution would be a) pushing it back up 30' of pole hose evry time you have extended the pole and b) if fixed to the pole it won't allow the hose to fall away when you collapse it. I still think a brush of some kind might do the job with the least resistance.
The foam tubes would give similar problems and probably wear pretty fast. Good ideas though - keep them coming!

Think ewans idea is good solution, I might put my protecta ball to the top as when I got my slx this was at the bottom but moves up any way due to not having any thing tokeep it in place. Think that when Alex puts these on he should put a O ring before and after (sorry off subject)

I found the ball to wear to quick to stop all the bits going up the pole, so next idea welcome

ok i tried out ewans method of the velcro pole cleaner, in princple it does work, but will not hold all the grit back, becouse it is impossible to make it to tight, but never the less it does work, but did need a little improving to make it more workable, especialy lowering the pole, and not having to retreive it all the time, i have videoed a big improvment, again kept simple, i will put the video up tonight

here is the video, i tested it out tonight for several hours, works every time, you can always ad a bit of velcro to the handle and rolled velco to keep it in place when not in use hope that helps

Just wondering, can you actually use the butt end of the pole to put it on the floor with your invention? It doesn't seem like it would work with your modified Ewanator.
