Some advice needed please guys

Im going to go WFP in the new year after a bad fall

I’ve got a TDS of 188 from my tap with good pressure
Would I get away with just using a DI or will I need to RO first?
How much resin would be used with a TDS like 188?

Will be using a 350l tank and wont to fill it as quick as possible as im in a flat

Found lots of help on here but stuck these last bits

RO for sure, 188 is too high for DI only, a 25ltr bag of resin (£69) probably won't last you a week if your filling a 350ltr tank each day, with a TDS of 188 from your tap.
RO would bring the TDS down to around the 010 mark, then your resin would last you a long time.

My tap tds is 96ppm. I have 2 DI's, dowex or tulsion resin AND- purify on demand (pump through di's on van & fill tank with tap water)

I run a 400ltr van mount & 1 bag of resin lasts me 6 months.

There is a conversion table that tells you how much water bag of resin will last.

The formula came from www.andwat.co.uk/ a while ago. To see how long a 25 litre of resin will last divide 500,000 by your TDS reading, this will then give you the amount of water per 25 litre sack of resin.

Example with a tds of 200:

500000/200=2500 litres per 25 litre bag.

My preference would be to have a ro unit 1st. Adding a booster pump to a ro unit will bring the tds down enough to clean without purchasing any resin.
It is also a one off expense for a few years. Prefilters are cheap to replace and if maintained the membranes will last for years.
A bag of resin will last for years as well if you wanted 0 tds.

my tap is 98-104ppm (it varies) i use RO and a 6.5ltr DI vessel to bring the 1ppm after RO down to 0ppm and de-ionise the water.

5ltrs of tulsion resin will last me 18mths ish. (25ltr bag is £74.50 delivered),
prevoiusly to having RO, i was DI only and one 5ltr fill lasted a week. it didn't take me long to see how fast an RO would pay for itself.  i do have a small DI though and the recommended size for DI ONLY is minimum 11ltr vessel.

Rns You going to need a R O and  Di. Di on its own will cost to much in reson I have just bought a ro from Water Filtration on line I spoke to a chap called Allen look on there web site very good prices . He supplies many of the WFP guys and you can save a packet my 200 Gal  ro with Di and with pressure gauge cost me 139.Give him a call. Ro man was the mane man for good prices but they do not opperate anymore. So call Allen tell him Richard you. If you need a phone I can e mail it. chears

As your ro will be in your van as opposed to a static system so you want it to fill quickly, a 4040 ro may be best. If your water pressure is high enough (50psi plus) hopefully the ro will do enough so you don't need resin. As long as the tds is below 010 it should be OK.

tap tds up here in scotland is shocking so it is 28ppm

It doesn't, it's a load of nonesense. It doesn't take into account resin brand or the now widespread use of a twin DI set up.

Trouble is, the sheep have been led & they were sold RO's, many of them who don't need them. Without first hand knowlage or experience they are convinced an RO is needed ALL the time.
