Your average 3 bed semi has 18ft of gutter each side (front and back) - thats 4.5M a side

£5 p/m is a good price if your clearing and then cleaning the guttering out.

I've thought about charging more on what the job involves. My plan is to make a bracket for my mobile to attatch to the top of a pole and make a video of the condition of the gutters. Then i can see what work is involved and charge accordingly.

There would have to be a min charge though, which i think £50 would be a good starting price. Im also thinking of offering a gutter survey. For £10, the customer can get a video recording of the condition of there guttering and make a descision on the job. Should they wish to have the gutters cleared and cleaned, the £10 would knocked of the price of the job.

Cheap and easy way of gutter survey with the option of showing the customer. Wont take long either if you have a laptop to transfer the recording onto whilst your there.

does sound good to start, but taking the film doing the survey , then processing a dvd takes time and £10 may cover it if lucky, then to knock it off there bill after imo would be madness, what you are doing is 1, giving them the cheap option to look before they buy and losing money, 2 when they buy you lose £10 off the price , and to top that it took you a load more time anyway.

I would offer survey £10 or cleaning at say £70 INCLUDING A DVD SO THEY CAN GET TO SEE THERE GUTTERS ARE CLEAR....

Not a good business model IMHO

but good to bat ideas about.

I wouldnt make a dvd for them, just simply show them a couple of mins of footage on the laptop. If they wanted a copy, then your talking + £20... easy way to get quick quotes from competition if they have the dvd

If they wanted it doing i would just add £10 onto the price, so if it was a £50 job it would turn to a £60 minus the £10 = £50

I use a scoop and a pressure washer with a 24ft telescopic lance which isnt that cheap.
when I start pulling out the kit the customer doesnt moan about being charged £80-£90 pounds.

Cheapest option for gutter clearing ive found is Matt's method

We're more traditional when it comes to gutters, ladders, ladder stand off with a bucket hanging off the hook, drain cleaning rods and half moon attachment, small narrow trowel and some old cloths.

Standard 3 bedroom house £60

Ronnie you could almost double your prices mate.
I tell the customer that these are one off jobs and that I charge a flat rate of £5 per metre for that they get the gutters cleared out and unblocked and washed down and the fascia and soffits washed down.
If they just want the gutters cleared out I tell them its still £5 per metre as its a flat rate.

That's different to your '£99 offer' matt.

That works out that a 3bed semi would be £50 for gutter clear & clean out and fascia & guttering (visual clean)

Where as your £99 offer which is the above plus a window clean.

Or are you just damm expensive when it comes to window cleaning ;)
