explain the part where you go on about cutting a slot. ye kinda lost me there
Ok I'll run you through it
Have your tube laid down on the bench (before you flatten it) and around 2,3 or 4" from one end (depending on how big you want your scoop)
Get a hack saw and cut half way through the tube and then you cut up through the center up to the cut you just made so you can pull the two sides apart to begin making the wings, Now you can start to flatten the tube at the end were your scoop is, study the picture of mine to get the idea of what I mean? Once your happy then shape the the end to look like a spoon, once your happy then begin to flatten the whole tube but stop around 6" from the other end so you can fit it to your pole, shape the flattened section to what I call a shepherds crook shape, get the idea from my pictures and see if you can copy it.
Before you add the strengthening bar do a couple of tests you can do this on the ground by pushing against the spoon hard to see were the tubes weakest point will be, mark it and then add your strengthening bar.
I use an old universal pole dedicated to the scoop and I bolted the scoop onto it so I don't loose it in the guttering lol
Check my drawing to see if it helps you?
