Harris clamps broke.... alternatives ?
« on: October 18, 2009, 08:04:36 pm »
The clamps on my harris pole are not working any longer. They just spin like they are not gripping.

The pole is only 4 weeks old and i dont want to be buying a new one each month.

Anyone got any ideas how to fix or replacement clamps that will last ?

Buy another one, they are not expensive. They will only take so much.

a new one each month ? thats £180 a year in poles, plus the time it takes to do each one. Not really helpful solution to my problem is it ?

Tommy... whats plagy ? i nearly have you now

round the grip claws whatever they are called, you need to unscrew the top cone to reveal the claws

Tomy is saying get a plastic bottle cut it off wrap around where the clamps hold, this will solve the problem or at least for a while, the fingers (are the cuts grooves under the screw down section (black thing you put your hands on to screw down) this can prolong the use of pole, seems it is is lasting you a month you are being a littl heavey handed my friend  ;)

Well if you are going to get so menopausal about it maybe you should have bought a 'proper' pole in the first place rather than trying to make do.  ;D

You didn't say you only had it a month, users on here usually get a year out of them. Are you sure you are treating it correctly?

Ok either you did mention it or you added this comment later.

You should still get a proper pile though!!! ;)

Not edited - you just didnt read propperly

I honestly dont fancy a pile or even piles, there not too healthy from what i hear

Im not heavy handed at all, maybe i got a duff one. Ive cut up a milk bottle and fitted this between the pole and clamps. Seems to be working
