gooseneck or not?
« on: October 18, 2009, 01:32:44 pm »
hi

fairly new to wfp have been going trad for over 10 rs.

going into wfp and was wondering if a gooseneck on a pole is a good or bad thing?

and whats the best type of brush to go for or is it personal choice?

ordering a few s-lx poles from gardiners and just wondered about the above matter before i placed the order.

nice one guys!

I'm also interested in the answer to this, just wondering the same thing myself.

it is worth getting an angle neck rather than a full gooseneck as you need the angle to get the brush on to the bottom frame of the window because the sill can be awkward at times.
get a full gooseneck if you have customers who have deep inset windows.

if your getting the SLX from Alex then buy his superlight brush preferably the dual trim monofiliment.
but it is down to personal preference.

I've had the 12' goosenecks on a few poles and did work wonders on deep sills and working where railings were in front of doors on upper levels however I did find it awkward if cleaning from an angle like to the side of windows on ground and upper levels,it has its place though in different circumstances ;)

The ideal would be to have 1 pole with gooseneck and 1 without.

Disadvantage of gooseneck
1. it is not adjustable and sometimes it is helpful to vary angle of brush.
2. on slx it makes the closed length of pole longer and so more akward for downstairs windows.

One option would be to get cheap 17 ft xtel pole (reaches vast majority of domestic work) and an slx with gooseneck for when gooseneck is useful and for higher reach work.

IMO 17 ft xtel is a nice little pole to use and will last longer if you keep the pole hose clean.

Just have a small extension to add onto plastic adjustable gooseneck for those deep sills.
