I have a 350 litre tank in my van and it is starting to go green inside with algae. I have tried to clean it out but can't get in behind the baffle in the middle of the tank.

So I have done something my brother suggested a while ago.......



I have put loaches in my tank to see if they will keep it clear

Loaches as in fish or do you mean leeches? Either way I doubt it will work. Probably your only solution will be to flush the tank through and refill.

Cover the tank and block out the light. I have black sticky backed foam around mine and have had no problems all summer. I even put black tape around the bowl of the inline strainer.

Put a cupful of bleach in once a week/fortnight - before filling up.  It won't affect the TDS reading and will kill the algae.

Putting a litre of Isopropyl alcohol in a half full tank works very very well too.

They wont survive very long in pure water as they need minerals which aren't present in pure water.
I have a fish tank which I fill with pure water but then I add mineral tablets.

Bit cruel to the fish. And remember they do their business in the water as well.

i use milton sterlising fluid to clean out my container's alge is formed because of the light and micro organisms in the air getting in to the water

Although I havent encoutered this problem, I would use a pressure washer to blast the algae, as this can get to areas where a brush can't, then flush the algae bits out with tap water, once its clear of algae then rinse with pure water.

i only have tap water as my tds is low anthen run through a di so they should be ok

000 TDS means still no minerals present.
