Do you think that to stay in wfp window cleaning will we have to produce our own water via rainwater harvesting i.e huge
tanks under our back garden via our roof future technoligies as in the plumbing/sewage for flushing toilets watering gardens ect
or pay huge amounts of money to pay via a water metre

I'm moving house all being well and will be on a meter. I have been searching the web for harvesting information and there is plenty to be found.
What does shock me is the lack of interest in collecting rainwater on this site.

I think the trouble is the sheer amount you need to collect just to make say 500l of 'good'water per day.

I think it would be hard relying soley on rainwater but as a top up to your system it would make sense to me - unless the costs of buying containers and diverters/filters is too high.

the cost of water will not rise too much otherwise laundrettes will close, commercial kitchens will close etc, the government wont let it happen.
paying for water is part of the overheads of being a WFP window cleaner.
why is it such an issue to SOME window cleaners.
If the cost of water is hurting your business that much, then your either wasting way to much water or your not charging enough for the cleans.

Built my own swimming pool business up back in the mid 80s till returning to the U.K in 2004 been window cleaning for 5 years. I think this can work here in the u.k but will cost big money to set up Water stored below 1.5 metres becomes warm ( disney land heat there swimming pools this way via fine copper coils in the earth plus plastic solar panels not copper above i.e roofs ( mainly summer time via 3 way valve actuator temp sensor) this can be done here even in winter thus stoping freezing problems for over night filling to tanks van or garage ,pure water is fed back to tacks below the same 1.5 metres garage tank or van mounts plus creating warm water, but  just ideas for the future . House hold plumbing & heating is starting to go this direction to include heat pumps here u.k

Trying hard not to be negative here..................................................But, could you honestly be bothered with all that machinery and stuff, with any luck i will be retired by then, imagine tryin' to answer questions about harvesting on a w/c forum.

why waste time messing about with harvesting rain water, you price your jobs on access to the windows, types of windows, overheads etc, for me the amount of rain water you actually harvest doesnt seem to warrant the set up.
Alot of guys on here have a 600 ltr tank which they say lasts them a day, unless you build your own reservoir in your back garden, which I am certain would not be large enough to collect sufficient amounts to use for WFP.

a 10000 litre purpose built tank by jfc plastics does a great job and gives great free and very low tds water for years with no maintenance. I am going installing this system off an industrial unit as customers are becoming more aware of the eco friendly side of it ,cheers Liam.

well I'm in no position to harvest rain water or even have a static tank living in a first floor flat unfortunately.
However if / when I can move and have a small house and garden I would consider diverting rain water from my gutters into ibc storage and use ro waste to fill a header tank for toilet flushing etc.

you might find your toilet will silt up very quick as the lime and heavy metals in your waste will be block everything
