How many houses a day on average??
« on: October 15, 2009, 10:21:45 am »
Hi, quite new to window cleaning and really enjoying it! Should of made the switch some years ago.
Just wondering how many houses an average traditional window cleaner should be able to do in an 8 hour day??
Say average house is 3 windows and a door at front and 3 windows and patio doors at the rear, decent access. Say £10. ??? ??? ???
How many of these type houses should i manage ???

it all depends on if they are compact 3 bedders or scattered bigger houses etc,if u get talking to custys, weather conditions.saying that on my compact 3 bedders between 20to30 a day.on an average day u will only work about 6 hrs on the glass, maybe 7 at a push cos of dinner breaks, driving to jobs etc but its how much u earn not how many!i earn more doin 10 houses a day scattered than compact 3 bedders some days.u should do 3 comfortably an hour compact, maybe 4.im TRAD and do 4 an hour most of the time.just not today.decided to have a days rest before the next two day onslaught! ;D ;D

best wishes dazmond

Houses fairly close together, a few are in same streets but still fairly scattered as still trying to build up a decent round. Most place are within a couple of minutes drive. Think i'm probably spending too much time detailing?! :-\

that thats one of these questions everyone has a different slant on,
when I was trad I would aim for 3 or 4 of what you describe.
best thing is to work out how much you need to earn each week/month (households, business, tax) then work out how many of your average houses you need to do to earn what you need, from there work out your hourly requirement.

Boo has it about the same as I see it. I have very compact rounds, so it's easier to work to daily targets. All my targets are earning targets, not work targets. So I know how much my daily target is.

It's best to work out how much you need to earn weekly / monthly to cover costs of living and running your biz. From that, you then work out how much you need to turnover per day to make what you need to have a decent standard of living.

Speed comes with time and depends on how spaced out your custies are from eachother. Hitting daily or monthly targets, helps you stay on track. Hope I have not rambled too much, and hope this helps.

when i started on trad i average a house every 30 mins, that wasnt rushing, and some times talking to custys,  untill you are good and quick, dont try to rush as you will do a bad job, take your time and get good,  so what if a house takes you a hour on a first clean, the next time its quicker

the problem with forums is that people think that if they arnt doing 8 an hour and earning 300 a day, they arnt a sucessful wc,

I'd be over the moon if i could manage 3 an hour at the moment, I'm definitely spending too long on each window. Hopefully i should get a lot quicker as time goes on.

I agree , on an earlier thead a few days ago, he said for an average 3 bed semi , he charges £7,and aims for £30 an hour....

so thats 4-5 houses an hour...
so to do 55 houseshe would do 11 hours ;D

we would struggle and not get with 2 men working 8 hours each to do 55 houses in a day unless they are next door to each other, if that is only one man, there must only be one window up and down  or your either mad, a poor window cleaner or I will pay to be trained on how this is possible and will pay good money or of cause your talking about one day you did this but every day to good quality, I am listening to you.... i am  :-\

I aim to do houses like this in half an hour or so and charge between £10 and £15.Still reasonably new myself so looking to get quicker all the time.Anything more than £100 a day and I'm happy to be honest. My advice would be to take your time and make sure the jobs right. When I first started I would try to get round a house at breakneck speed to get onto the next place and you can forsake doing a decent job.I work at a more relaxed pace now and enjoy the work much more.
