Bug in George?
« on: October 14, 2009, 05:54:51 pm »
If I want to change the frequency of a clean from 4 to 6 weekly (for instance) the date that it's due doesn't change with two weeks, but it changes with 6 weeks. If you then for instance change it back to 4 weeks, it goes again 4 weeks from the day it said when you selected 6 weekly.

So, I've got a customer who wants to go from 4 weekly to 6 weekly. No problem, the next time it was due is 5 November. But if I select 6 weekly, it's not the 19th, like you would expect, but 17 December!! Maybe it's not a bug, but it's highly recommended to change this. I've only just noticed this, I hope this didn't mess up my schedule, I have no idea how many times I have done that before. Or how much work I have lost because of that.

I've emailed George systems regarding this, hope to get an email back soon.

I think you will need to change it manually to 19th Nov (due date) and then change the frequency to six weeks.
But this will be New Years Eve ;D

Yea after thinking about it it makes sense, but it kind of upset me, because I've done this a number of times, I hope I had done it the right way then?  :(  :)

Yes you are right it adds the new weekly amounbt to the due date , i agree with you this sucks and is a fault/bug that needs to be rectified ..... i have always noticed it and have just changed it manually but it is a pain in the ass , wonder if WCP has little probs like this ......

Im sure there are certain things that are going to be a pain to some people in any program. If the frequencies change in WCP it asks you if you wish to reschedule based on the last due date or keep the same date. In this example it would ask whether you want to keep the 5th November or change the due date to 19th November.

Im sure if you email Paul he will let you know if there is another way round or he will certainly add it to his list.

I notced this a while back aswell, but not untill i had worked my way through tons of my custys  :(

Just have to remember to sort the date manually in future.

Does anyone know of any other window cleaning programs that are out there and can be run on PDA pocket PC etc?  I cant seem to find anything that is any better than George at the moment.

If your looking for something to run on Palm OS PDA then George is the only option. If you are looking for something to run on Windows Mobile then Window Cleaner Pro (WCP) or RoundTracker which runs on excel. The only other option you have is Midas which is internet based and so can be run on any device that has an internet connection and web browser.

Cheers, I will do a search for the above software!  ;)

Im currently running a trial of WCP which in my opinion looks clearer to use than George, but I feel there are still a good few upgrades needed before it has the features I need most.

EDIT - just wondering if when using WCP lite does it list the jobs in round order? as this is one of the things I find frustrating with george.

Great let me know how it goes with WCP, also I'd be interested what ideas you have in improvements.

Thanks

Hi,

The logic behind the Next Due date calculation is quite complicated. Whether it changes depends on the Job frequency and whether the Job is overdue.

I've reworked it in the next release to calculate the date based on the last done date instead of the existing due date.

Paul

Got a reply back. :)
