Not at all, makes no difference to me what the FWC do, I am not involved with the FWC one bit. I just wouldnt like to lose an event like they put on, I think as an industry we need things like this.
I see these shows as the highlighs of my business year and really love going to them, you just cant beat a night in the bar with the likes of Karl Robinson, Ian Lancaster, Lewis Doubtfire, Terry and his mate ( Tells amazing window cleaning storeys) Peter Fogwell and whoever else might be there.

Past good nights have been spent with Tosh, Ian Giles, Shiner, Wavey Davey, Andy Cheney to mention a few.

If you don't enjoy yourself at these shows, what can I say.

The FWC have been running these shows for a lot longer than 'Windex, which incidently they are partly responsible for in the first place and have sponsored from the beginning.

I didn't go because I can't think of anything worse than a day pole fondling or squeegie stroking or having orgasms over the latest ro unit. I don't think I'd go if it was 100yds away to be honest. Nice sunny day like today I'd rather go to the coast if I was taking a day off. Just don't think a trade show would hold my attention for more than three seconds.

I Agree with you, to a point,

I know its important to a lot of the guys, but i am very small fry,...
and to watch a wc competition, and to see all the major suppliers is not important to me at all,... i know who they are anyway, ... i wont get any discount because of a face to face meeting with a rep....

All in all its ok for those who want to go,

it simply does not appeal to me..... just now anyway !

i was just interested dave, it wasnt a dig at you, as i know whats been said in the past about the fed ( and the stunts that have been pulled ), wasnt that the point of setting up the other outfit, just interested in if you were getting involved with them etc etc

i wouldnt mind a show if it was closer to home ( the cov show is a possible ), though to be honest i dont think i would stay for a all nighter as both my daughters insist on a goodnight kiss

its all cool, having  run an association and know how difficult it is, I have nothing but respect for these guys, you just need to meet them, not just Bryan and Andrew, but the other guys as well, they do a lot of hard work.

As you know it was the FWC show last Friday, although it was quite successful with the amount of people through the door, I thought there would be a lot more people from the forums attending.

What stoppd you from going ?

Was it the location ?

Because it was on a work day ? or you simply couldnt be bothered ?

Would you have attended if it were closer to your home ?

I enjoy aspects of the socialising too Dave.  Birmingham a couple of years back was an evening to remember - though I imagine some were too peed to remember much anyway     .  I find it is nice to build it in to a few days off.  Last time I used it as a jump off point to go to visit relatives in the north east (I'm from the south east).  I intend to go to Coventry next time.

Trade shows are a big expense for companies, sales personel off the road/out off offices, travelling expenses, overnight costs and thats without the cost of the stand space. Most, if not all, of the stands had some sort of 'show offer' to entice people to buy. I know we did on the Wndow Cleaner Pro stand as it was our first show and it was a large capital outlay for us so we wanted to maximise every selling opportunity.

I love doing shows as i have a belief that people deal with people and i want to know who our customers are....by name, face and sometimes by reputation! Its easier to deal with someone who you know and is not just a voice on a phone or a name on a computer screen, thats how deals get done.

i dont understand why they only do shows in england when there are so many window cleaners who live and work in other parts of the uk...surely it would make more sense for them to have regional trade shows.....i am sure there are loads of guys who would attend if the show was only an hour or so drive away....and they would increase the sales of whatever they are trying to sell 10 fold
