Got 3 internal 20ft high georgian windows to clean. What would you use?

The floor is marble so my ladder is out of the question.
Was thinking of using vikan indoor kit but the head is to big and need it to be fixed in position.
The next idea is to use a paint pad on an extensionion pole with microfibre cloth attached instead of pad, was also thinking of adapting a sprayer to the end for pure water.

Anybody got any better ideas?

Whats between the bottom of the window and the marble floor? You got a picture?

The window bottom is about 3-4 foot off the floor on the inside then reaches to about 20ft. On the outside my double elevens are at full stretch.

3 Way Combination Ladder would be my choice mate.

If you don't have one, you can hire one from HSS for a day £29.50, or a week £59.00.

I know it seems alot for one window, but the safest option in my opinion.

Most probably could foot this once, but it could turn out to be a monthly job so would like to rig something up so i could do this on my own.

Im always getting asked to do jobs similar, i have to price another job up with similar sized internal windows but these are higher off the ground but on a stairway so some sort of pole would be ideal for me.

Do you know how a 3 Way Combination Ladder works mate?

I would concentrate on making the ladder viable. I had a 12ft internal leaded to do last week. It was on the staircase. I had to make a box up, like a platform, half sat on the step & the other half had feet to the lower step. This was then wide enough to get both ladder feet on it & be secure & level.

You can use it on stairs, as it is would be ideal for your aforementioned window, and the ladder extends like a normal ladder but has the stability from the extra section.

Im looking at combination ladders now but most seem only to go upto 3meters where i would need 20ft/6meters

how about scaffolding? if its going to be regular then it will come in handy plus you can use it on other jobs

Can you cut 2 lengths of timber, say from one end of room to the other (like two tracks) then fix two but stops on them to hold ladder feet? If there is nothing to rest the top of the ladder on, maybe midway down the window, you could strap a plank to the ladder to span the reveal.

thats waht i was also thinking but never new how to explain it.

Why not? Thats what they are made for? Safer than two bits of wood.

from my own experience of having used one of them ladders, i would never do it again for high rise stuff ithout someone standing at the bottom, they are not safe at full height. Sooner have someone foot it or the same sort of thing, two pieces of wood jammed to the bootm to stop movement. personel opinion by the way

Not when the timber is cut to fit, it can't move! the stops are screwed to these & thus also can't move. As safe as it can get. (only for pro's mind)

ladder safety feet suction cup type and ladder mitts for top of ladder to prevent any marking thats what i use in local dance studio with glazed mezzanine level
