During the day, most people don't like people knocking when they have just got back home from work.
Saturday mornings are good.

During the day week days is a waste of time unless your idea of canvassing is posting leaflets imo. I would say just after 4pm to catch the mums bringing the kids home from school, up until 8pm. Weekends this can be hit and miss catching people in, but anytime after 10am up till 8pm. You will find you get most people in at dinner times, so this is when you ideally need to knock.

Well there seems to be a bit of difference of opinion on this, I'll stick to going out late afternoon/early evening 4.30-6.30.

I don't see the point of going knocking during the day when most people will be out.

What about all those housewives, girlfriends who have children etc, they are the ones who are most happy to see you.
When you go round 5-6pm they are usually making dinner, and their partners have just got home, feeling knackered from a hard days work.
Most of my quotes were during "office hours"

I used to canvass, I tried to be knocking from 4.30pm till 7.30pm.I got my best results then. I reckon if someone wants a WC, they are either pleased to see you at the door, or they say"no thanks".
What's the worst that can happen? Some will, some wont, so what? Just knock and ask.

Im glad someone else started this topic up as i myself am going to start knocking on doors and coming up to the darker evenings it may not be sensible, will have to try during the day with the elderly market and the stay home mums etc then use the evenings for the working market.

i used to sell door to door for many years , and anytime is good , i have a canvasser now and he goes out during the day and makes a note of those that are out and then goes back and knocks those at the weekend , that way you will end up with more compact work , what you need to do is hit as many doore as possible , take no notice of those on mhere who say  a certain time or day is no good , trust me any time is good because you never no when you will hit that little patch where there has been no canvassing for a while , just get out there and knock regards alan

exactly

its all about your attitude, if you dont really wanna be there, people will sense it a mile off you wont be enthusiastic

Be positive, be happy, smile at people, be polite get to the point fast and take it from there, at worst someone tels you to **** off, so what , were they gonna be a good custy?? Laugh it off, knock the next door

end of

I did door to door for years, its a mental game more than anything, as long as you are happy, doesnt matter what they do

and your business WILL grow , FAST
