I am looking to buy another van for my son, but he's only 20 so appreciate insurance will be high.

Spoke to A Plan today who said over £1,100, and thats obviously without any WFP System , as you have to be over 25


All feedback would be appreciated, as i really need to be buying a van soon.

I am insured with A Plan but i telephoned them today & they said my insurers will not insure anyone under 25 with a WFP system inside the van (modified)

Im 18 & started window cleaning six months ago and i too out a commericial vehicle insurance policy no trouble. I was 17 when i took it out. I went to a local broker that deals with commercial.

It wasn't cheap but was cheaper than when i had a car.

Try Direct Choice Van Insurance. Maybe not having a WFP system bolted into the van if it's a matter of the van being modified, ie use 25ltr barrels etc or a backpack etc, or a car with a trailer as someone else said.

cheapest option, give him a bike with a backpack on it and an engine, and that way you wont have to get another van.

I NEVER scrimp & scrape , or buy crappy stuff, or be as tight as a ducks arse when it comes to buying work equipment  


However, insurance is a different matter, especially as SOME of us have insurance and abide with H&S legislation.


Just managed to pick up a transit for £12,500, and am now looking for another van, possibly 2 more ,

In your post you are complaining about having to spend £1100 pounds for insurance,then you say you dont cut corners when it comes to legislation and are thinking of buying 3 brand new vans,its sounds like a pipe dream to me
