Tips..

1) Use it correctly following ladder usage guidelines from the HSE in relation to the WAHR.

http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/misc613.pdf

2) Get some proper ladder training to assist you in knowing how to use a ladder in relation to the above.

Very easy George. Don't go up ladders that are at a dodgy angle. That window being clean above Mrs Chomondeley-Smythes porch isn't worth a broken leg or worse.

"...a bag of sand..."? You lug around a bag of sand as well as your ladders, bucket etc?

F#@k that!

How about a trad pole with a wagtail on the end. ;)
I can remember when waking up stiff in the morning was a good thing.

yeah good advice thanks...

and yeah a bag of snad is a ball ache to lug about, but i only use is when i feel the ladder could slip at the bottom (on slippy ground or a shalliw angle over a porch roof)

but most times i use my trad pole for dodgy windows!

Its doesn't

You use ladder correctly or alternatively use a scaffold tower, mewp etc.

did you try having your ladder above the window instead of on the sill, angle not as bad then, spikes are only a bonus on bad angles if you are laddering off soft ground

I use these and would never be without them.

Like them so much I have just bought 2 more sets for the lads that work for me.

I have used them at some hard angles as well and really hold well, they also take the bounce out of the ladder as you climb as well.

What does? No link.

I had a slip last week and fell from about 4 rungs up.  Still hurts like bugger.  Think I might get some of th stabiliser thingies which is what i think you are on about./

Try Laddatec Laddalimpets. The ladder can't slide out w/ them in place.

I know what you mean GB - my ladder slipped on Friday. Full 13ft first floor window thankfully onto some decking.

My own silly fault, I had the custys two 3 yr old twins chatting away, I was trying to rush, just had the ladder out to far at the base.......and didn't use my ladder safe at the top. Thankfully all I did was sprain my ankle slightly. Numbed the pain with a vast amount of red wine at a wedding on Saturday. Feel great today (Mon) although yesterdays headache wasn't that great !!

Definately looking at a Rojak ladder stop now !!
