you now have to pay to even SEE the round price.

£5 for 3 months, too much!! maybe £5 per year would be more like it.

They have to make a living the same as anybody else.
The pen is mightier than the sword..and easier to write with!

the search function is a major improvement, I think they are wanting the potential buyers to pay for it though by the looks of it.

But how do you know you're a potential buyer if you cant see the price???

Surely it would be better to see all of the details, but have to pay to see the contact email etc.  Then you could decide if a round was worth the money before you fork out £5 only to be dissappointd.

It seems like they want money just for your interest, without actuially giving you anything.

I will be unsubscribing when I receive their next email.

OK, so they presumably have to pay for hosting etc. so are entitled to ask for money.  They are also entitled to make a profit.  It's the bit about hiding the asking price that is the main issue.  If I were to actually use the site to buy a round, I would have no problem with re-imbursing the site owner with a fee equivalent to a three month membership.  I'll be damned if I'm paying just to view though.  It also leaves things wide open for the site owner to put up lucrative looking bogus rounds just to get people subscribing.  This smacks of taking advantage of the high unemployment rates.  Although most reasonably established W/Cs wouldn't bother buying work in, someone desperate to turn their redundancy money into income before it gets spent could well be tempted.

Although the subscription prices are low, the way of the internet seems to be that sites like this that start charging to view end up not doing so well.

I paid £5 today to see a round in my area, and i though to mysef no one else is gonna pay to see this so they have shot themselves in the foot as less people will sell on the site

So they need to re think it i think

I read with interest the above posts.

Anyone advertising a round for sale has good reason to be careful about what details they reveal.

The fact that you have to now pay to view the contact details is of benefit to those selling.
It means that only those sincerely interested in buying or selling a round will be able to contact them. Less time wasters, less spam mail and greater security.
Not everyone would want to post their livelihood details on the internet for the whole world to see.

I don't think the subscription rates are high, especially if you are going to advertise a round for sale.
(Plus don't forget that the subscription payment will soon include the used equipment section too.)

However, I do take on board the comments regarding being able to see the price of the rounds. I'll be humble enough to acknowledge that this could be a mistake. Perhaps it was a tad greedy to hide that too as it doesn't cause any security issues.

The web guy that I paid to make the changes is on holiday for a week but I will get him to change it when he gets back.

Thank you for your feedback.

We do have a lot of people using the site and yes, a lot of people will subscribe even if we hide the price, but believe it or not I'm not only interested in making money from the site but find satisfaction in providing a popular, well liked and well used resource for the benefit of all window cleaners.

I run this site pretty much on my own and obviously it takes a lot of time to run.
As said earlier - I have to make a living the same as anyone else. But  If it's going to cause our good reputation to suffer then I'll be happy to show the price.

For reasons already mentioned the hidden contact details remain.

Notification of new round adverts for full members does seem to have gone down well.

Mark I think you have made the right decision with round prices, there are many including myself who visit your site as so to speak "window shoppers",  I personally wouldn't have paid to see the prices of rounds, however I would pay for details of how to contact the seller, as long as the round is still available and  the status is updated regularly.

That does sound better to me as well regarding showing the prices.  Important point that Chris about removing rounds from the list as soon as they are sold - or marking them SOLD very clearly as has been done previously.  Otherwise someone might subscribe to view contact details of a round that's already gone.

I think they have the story wrong and sellers need to rethink where they sell.better on this site.
