i once heard a guy used a L5 heater, think he said it was under 200 quid

what are peoples thoughts on this ? ? ?

Its ok, but dont expect to get covered by your insurance for full use of it un supervised in your van unless you get it professionally fitted.

look into the legalities of using it first. I decided it wasn't worth the hassel should it occur.

I saw a neat L5 setup about a year ago. The guy worked out of a trailer and the L5 was rigged up on this, thus avoiding allsorts of rules and regulations regarding carrying gas in a vehicle.

Ewan agrees with me as well about something. Im off for a lie down.

I don't think 2.5k is a bad price & if it benefits your particular work then it's a wise investment. I haven't got one but would consider one in the future.

Cheers nice & clean Im not sure if it has the frost free  thermostat & blower but ill find out today & let you know.

As for the hot water system  being a luxury, we clean a lot of schools, do a lot of one off cleans, loads of UPVC cleans & con roofs so I believe this will make things easier & quicker as the say time is money!!!

I don't see it as a luxury now, just the norm, you will wonder why you didn't get one sooner!
Just make sure you have it serviced yearly, stop it from clogging up. I have taken mine to a Webasto dealer to have them done, to give you an idea on cost, the 4kw cost £150.00 inc parts and labour, and the 9kw was £235.00 inc parts and labour.

cheers nice & clean I will forward you some photos when I get some.
As for the frost free timer & blower it does not come with this I thought it would as they was no options to add this on the website, they are getting back to me on what the extra cost would be if any.
Do you think its still worth investing in without it?

Hot Pure water cuts through grime ect. faster than cold thus reducing the time spent on first cleans and Commercial cleans.
So in my eyes £2500 for a hot water system is a good investment in the long run.
I think they will come down to around £1500 in the years to come though, but I doubt it very much if they will fall below 1K.
on the comparison to a home boiler, hot water WFP systems are for commercial tradesmen not residential customers so the prices would be higher than that of a home boiler.
The thing with any asset is, will it make me money? if the answer is yes then buy one. if you haven't enough commercial or first cleans to warrant it then don't bother.

I have a varitech hot water unit but i want 1 that gets the water hotter,it works well and needs a fully charged battery to work properly.I will be looking into the Ionic top of the range add on to see whether it gets the water hotter than mine does.

The varitech hot probably uses a 5kw heater, which IMO should be called a "luke-warm system" not hot.  Fair enough its better than nothing, but you need the 9KW heater to make it hot.

heres an experiment

run a knife which has had butter on it under a cold tap.

Then do the same under a hot tap.

So you can see on greasy glass, hot would be of huge benefit.

I have not got hot yet, but will have soon.

Yes, worth investing in it even without the frost protection, but if you can have it added, be worth it though. Think for the frost protection as an add on was £140 plus vat when i got it, but i also added the blower, had it fitted so it blows hot air into the cargo area, and through the bulk head to, no more frozen windows. The blower would be a bonus if you have filtration on board as well i would of thought. If you can come to some sort of deal with them, be worth adding both.

I use hot and cold wfp. Hot is quicker and less effort on difficult jobs and new cleans. Personal preference really. May go for a 9kw heater next time around for ww jobs.
