What that man said.
The prices for these bits of kit are ridiculous. We paid 1K about 4 years ago for a new combi-boiler and labour to fit it at home. How come these things theyre passing off as heaters for caravans etc cost up to 4 times that for a residential property?
Bloody rip-off! Theres no doubt about it.
If you tried hot (and i do mean proper hot, not some piddley luke-warm jobbie. You NEED the 9kw one if your going to get anything) you'd happily pay the asking price and more.
The difference between hot and cold is well worth paying for.
Why is it more than a combi boiler? hmm, they are probably mass produced by the trillion in china, thats why they are relatively cheap. This is a different thing.
Why does a digital watch cost less than £10? How would you like to try making it yourself- how long would that take? How much would it cost? Mass production brings prices down massively. They arent mass producing hot water systems for window cleaning, so you pay a higher, but fair price. When I got my hot system, i paid much more than they are available now for, but I dont regret it, I've had several years of great service from it, and it has paid for itself several times over.
That is all.
Im sure hot has its place in the business; just not for 90% of users. Easier Im sure on long frequency commercial (note: easier, not necessary!).
For the huge majority of window cleaners an investment in a hot water system is likely to be deemed a luxury, which in fact it more than likely is. You can probably clean all your windows on your round in general with a few quick, conscientious strokes of a well presented brush whilst on a good rinse flow with cold. Hot probably wouldnt help in any sense with those windows cleaned regularly on 95% of work.
Why invest in something which isnt necessary but is so costly, whereas a pole, van, ladder, tank, RO etc is. Those heaters fitted are the same price as my van and they NO WAY represent the same need, requirement or importance to my business as my mode of transport do.
As for suggesting theyre the price they are is because they are not mass produced is ridiculous mate, sorry, but its because theyre a novelty and a reasonably new concept.
No offence intended, I'll consider one when theyre a somewhat more realistic price.
