Hot water issues is a subject that crops up regular especially winter time and so i have been doing some searching and there is a new portable Gas powerd water heater due out soon here in the uk for about £150 so what do you think

that looks pretty good, but the flow rate is to high at a gallon a minute and therefore the flame may switch of if used at our flowrate of about 2 litres a minute, it would also be better if the temperature could be adjusted i am sure these issues could be addressed then it would be a handy bit of kit to have for the price.

looking at the pic seems you can adjust the temp
just used a conversion table for flow rates, 1 us gallon converts to 3.8 liters per min, a 100 psi shurflow pump has about 6 liters per min ( according to wintecs website )
or am I missing something ?

a 100psi pump will do 6 litres a minute but most wfp users have the pump turned down to about 2 litres a minute,if it still ignites at this flowrate then it would be fine, its deffinately worth looking at i may buy one and have a try.

Well i`m going go for it and if it don`t work then at least my kids can have heated water in the swimming pool 
as for supliers most cadac stockists usually caravan and camping shops should be able get them and i was told they will be available end of October

i have a 100psi flojet which is supposed to kick out 7l a min but running it at that i can knock pigieons out of trees wit it i just ordered the L5 heater its only 119.48 delivered from us

Am now seriously considering this, not permanantly fitted in my van system but to fill backpack, thus ruling out problems with a lower flow rate, for those situations where hot water would definately have advantages, e.g. bird poo, as someone posted earlier wfp does'nt always remove all traces of it.
Stupid question maybe, but can anyone see a problem with using hot water in a backpack ? (wcw, not carried on back, use it on a trolley)

I know someone who uses a hot backpack...cant see it causing probelms myself, and for someone like me carrying it on my back, lovely and warm lol

any tech'ys out there know what the maximum temp it would be safe to run water through a pump ?

It is of interest what water temp a pump can take because if your have a two man system the hot water has to come through a pump.

However, everyone i know with an on demand lpg heater, has the heater after the pump but before the reel.Therefore no hot water does do through the pump.Also, it simplyfies things if you use zero tds water and don't carry a DI.

thanks for replies, no di in van although I was thinking more along the lines of hot water going through a backpacks pump and if it could cope with that, do hot water systems such as ionics heat the whole tank if so hot water would go through a pump also ?

right then my fellow goons, i have done a lot of research into this, as there is no way i am paying the money manufacturers want for these systems, horrendously overpriced as per everything else wfp...but dont get me started...

so, after giving it much thought, and many hours experimenting with my system, at great expense, with a view to developing a cost effective system, which is effective and easy to use, i believe i have finally hit the jackpot.

what i have come up with is a simple plug in system, that even the most inexperienced diy'er can install, and i hope you guys will appreciate it in its early stages of development, but i have tried it and so has another local firm, with great results.

i intend to get the product to market as soon i can get some stickers made up to brand it MY product, but basically, the kit consists of:
