Wool Carpet Scuffs
« on: September 28, 2009, 03:22:29 pm »
Just had a call from a lady today asking to clean her 80/20 wool mix carpet. She explained to me that she has previously tried to remove a stain on the carpet, but afterwards it left a scuffed and fluffy mark.Going to see it on thursday, should i test the carpet with my agitation brush first of all before i attempt to start cleaning?Do you think the scuffing is there because shes overdone the stain with a stiff brush?Or is this type of scuffing a common problem with wool carpets?Any advice welcome.

Sounds like she may have scrubbed the stain and damaged the fibres

She's almost certainly buggered up her own carpet! Some customers have the notion that the last person to attempt rectification is somehow wholly responsible... ???

As long as you write down the existing problem on your survey form and she signs it that should cover you. But also be aware that if and when you do the job, use de-foam in case she's used the dreaded Vanish (Which I'd put a £100 she has!)

have had great success in the past improving this scrubbed "fluffinesss" by using a heavy duty "fabric de-bobbler"  when i  say heavy duty i just mean a larger than normal 240v  model  as opposed to the usual smaller battery operated models.  even if you fail to remove her "locked in "stain it will be easier to take payment as you wil have improved the appearance of the pile....
