Pollen from lillies

Had a 100% wool rug with pollen from lillies all over it today. 

I had hoped that they hadn't touched it themselves when they booked it in but, of course, they had had the old vanish out and had spread the whole lot around a bit!

I got on the phone to my old pal Rabby who suggested white spirit - I only had P.O.G. and he thought this might work. 

What can I say, it came out a dream and the customer was over the moon.  Only problem on very close inspection was a slightly lighter patch where the vanish had bleached the rug slightly but it wasn't too bad.

where can i get POG from just in case, and whats its full title just in case theres more than one version. thanks

Derek,

P.O.G. is Paint Oil and Grease remover sold by chemspec - only thing is it drips all over your hand and absolutely reeks  >:(

I've also had joy with using solvex and citrus gelso there's another one for you Derek   ;D

i always thought it was a dye and only sod mets would move it, i'm off to buy me some lillies to experiment. well tomorrow i am if i get time, busy busy busy.

Once the pollen spores have come into contact with water the removal process is made far more difficult.
I have had good results with Citrus gel and white spirit.

Hi Guys

White spirit is good, isopropanol also works, as does POG which as someone has said smells like pear drops (amyl acetate) mixed with turpentine , very similar to white spirit, which is what it is.

Thats one of the great things about solvents, there easy to detect from their smell.
