Hi all,

I saw this on Dragon's Den a few series back. One guy's idea was to get a stencil for his business and pressure wash over it so that his info was on the wall, pavement or wherever else he chose to put it.

I thought this was a really neat idea. Its 'green advertising'. Obviously it's the kind of thing you'd have to be careful about where you did it but I think it was a really good idea. Has anyone else tried this?

Maybe a company like http://www.stencilsexpress.co.uk could knock something up for us?

You would probably just get a call to remove it and end up cleaning the wall for nothing, as it could be classed as graffiti.

You did not read my post properly. I said you would have to be careful where you did it. So private property should be ok as long as you asked the owner's permission. Obviously you cannot do it anywhere!!

Not a bad idea,i suppose if it could come off easy enough then it may suit the likes of quick advertising say JOES CAFE etc must be cheaper than having a sign made,no?

there was this graffiti artist who did this type of thing in tunnels in Japan, with all the dirt, and road grime. He drew some brilliant pics of skulls and the like.

The councils/government had to get every tunnel cleaned up to stop this from happening, and because it wasn't a permanent pic as not paint etc, he couldn't be done, as all he was classed as doing was "cleaning".

Reverse graffiti also known as clean tagging, dust tagging or grime writing, is a method of removing dirt from a surface while creating graffiti on walls or other surfaces. It is usually done by removing dirt/dust with the fingertip(s) from windows or other dirty surfaces. Reverse graffiti on windows/glass can be highly visible due to the reflection of sunlight. Due to the lack of paint it is often used for Advertising, and companies such as Microsoft and Smirnoff, have had their products advertised this way.

I think im gonna get something sorted and give it a go. As long as it is done on the owner's property and on a well thought out place (with their permission) I cannot see what the harm is in it.

Maybe it would get moans as it is for something nothing to do with the cleaning industry. Ive never seen it in my life so maybe it is an untapped advertising method?

I don't see how there can be any money in this type of advertising.
How much could you charge really? £10 -£30 tops?

I suppose you would need the permission from the owner of the property or it could be bad advertising.

A friend of mine did something like this on walls or grey foot paths, but this was just water marking and dry in an hour or two. All he did was spray water on the stencil and move on, or you can use colour water like your talking about??

there were gypsies by us doing it just writing their names on peoples drives with a lance then knocking on peoples doors. a few people phones the police as its peoples property. i dont hink most custies will like the idea at all. but it seemed a good idea.

if you want to do this then you need to use something subliminal, that cannot be linked to you until they see your advertising

imagine if you used a unicorn as your company logo you could use a unicorn stencil.

 by its self no one can link it to you....... until someone sees your advert, then they will recognise your logo but not know why.

or stencil who can you trust to clean your drive

then have a headline on your leaflet saying trust us to clean your drive
