One of the things I not hate but kind of bothers me with this forum is some topics have been done to death, like WFP vs Trad. How do I go about pricing?

So what I think would be a good idea, is if everyone took a quick look through there back posts and picked a topic they think has been cover fully in another post and is likely to be brought up again, post the subject and a link to the topic.

Then when newbies come on and ask about these topics we can refer them to this and save allot of repetition. It will only work if allot contribute though, and I know going through the back posts of the likes of MATT, or LWC could take a while, but even if you just grab one out at random it will help and act as a FAQ.

We see a newbie, OK please read first kind of thing.

If I was a newbie I wouldnt bother trawling through a whole load of stuff, most of which is not what I'm after.  I would just be lazy and start a new topic like they do.

Which I expect they would, however when they do, you could go and take the link and say read this

they dont have to read through all of the links just the ones related to the topics they are asking about.

I also think in the past, posters have given really great lengthy posts that I doubt others will take the time to post again and are invaluable to others starting out.

There's an easy enough answer to this one. Why not some of the more expert amongst us write a short manual on a specialist topic.

E.g.

* How to use wfp to clean a conservatory.
* How to clear and clean gutters by hand.
* How to clear and clean gutters using a power washer.
* How to clear and clean gutters using a gutter vac.
* How to clean gutters, fascia and soffits using wfp.

There's no shortage of expertise - and there's no real shortage of topics to be covered.

CIU could then convert all these documents into pdf files and put them in a FAQ section.

As above, like other forums there should be a sticky posted at the top with some good answers to good common questions. 
I frequent a few forums, and even owned a few myself, and like valeting, detailing, trade, business and marketing forums they all get the same questions over and over, and all end up having stickies to these questions to avoid this a little, but this one doesn't have stickies put up like that..........why ??

In all honesty 99% of the questions asked on here have been covered time and again and if everybody who had a question took the time and trouble to trawl through the FAQ section then the posts on here would go from 100s a week to 5 or 6...boring!

We have got the FAQ's section Ladder, before I posted on here, I spent a few days looking at who was who and what their attitude was at first.
Another point I'd like to make is, we have really got focused on carpet and upholstery cleaning in the last 4 or 5 months. Having not done much of this for a few years, I found that I wasn't upto date. So we have spent quite a bit of time trawling through FAQ's on that part of the forum. Very helpfull, and alot faster to get an answer to any questions we've had so far.

So I agree with you on FAQ's but surely it's for Ian and Dave to polish it up a bit.
Another point is, when a newbie asks a question, like Simon Knight said, gives us a chance to bash our keyboards and paste rubbish all over the forum
