You can get a new Prowler for about that but then its + Vat, Hydramaster have a Maxx Diesel with about 4,000 hours on it comes with a sprinter van for £7.5K probably plus vat

My TM was 2k. I would say it took 4 months before the EXTRA money it earnt paid for itself and that was with a few teething troubles in the first month or two. Now it gives me far more earning potential than my Speedster and with very little effort.

Buying second hand is a good way to go, but not for the faint hearted. 

What I can't understand is people are quite happy to get a sparkling new van on tick but the idea of doing it with as Simon would put it 'a money making machine' LOL or an entry level TM, suddenly is too much of a risk.

Fresh when you say 'loads of jobs' how much money are we talking about?

Most people find it 'lumpy' to say the least when they first start and a few hundred quid a week is not a lot for a business.

next week got 2 nursing homes 1 hotel 3lounges and a small restaurant to price so considering that i dont think doing to bad for 4 months from scratch

whats your marketting strategy fresh to be getting all that in 4 months of trading. must be doing something different than the norm.

i dont think so hence why i am on here its ok to price jobs but gettin them diff story.
all i done is work my knackers off for 4 months advertising so am chuffed to get the intrest i have cheers

i sent headed letters of to buisness around wide spread area explaining what services are on offer i done at min about 390 letters schools clubs hotels pubs the norm also done alot of leafleting walking around on my time off delivering them all sorts really i might not get any of the jobs but just glad its working

Sounds like you are getting out there which is half the battle.

I think you have to accept that you can push as hard as you like but it's going to be at least 12 months before you are on a roll.

As you get experience of quoting you will get better conversion and higher prices, but it all starts with getting the phone ringing which you seem to have sussed.

it was private in trade it £1600 with m reg van i rang my cousin who got big cleaning firm in plymouth for advice he told me to stay clear as must be knackered for that price.
i rang the bloke and he reckoned nothing wrong with it but i didnt take chance was 3-5 months ago when i was starting
