  ask this as i had a humdinger today with an officer.
story goes i am asked to clean his marchout he moves round the corner
thurs morning i go 9/10 fin nobody there all clean good job;
today phone goes where were you.
tells him i was there no body there he says cleaners never saw me they were there all time
wont hear a word about cleaners pays me then says a funny thing he never doubted me
but still maintains cleaners there all time? i dont know whats gone onbut
i was rubed up the wrong way been one of those weeks

i clean a few MOD, i find the officers are great, the mid ranked lot think they are the mutz nutz

i did a march out today for some1, they were moving to the USA ( Naval Station Norfolk )

very nice, thanked me for the work i had done, they had passed my details on to the next lot who are moving in, and gave me a tenner tip

I think I've understood it corectly mate. You turned up to do the WCing and the cleaners had already done it and gone, is that right?

I find no difference betwwen ranks, they are all good as custies. I get the odd prat, but what can you say? I reckon he want's to keep you as his WC as he is only moving a short way away, as I have understood it.

I honestly find, as an ex squaddie, that I get on well with the Army, as I know how they and the system ticks. You learn when and what to say to get a result.Knowing who to tap up and keep happy gets you alot further, faster. They love traders who appear to be honest, saving them money or giving free advice about dealing with local traders etc.
An example would be, if they ask me for the local gardener service over here, I would tell them to check if what they want done in the garden is covered by the Army housing service department.
That's free, so happy days.

Anyway, I find them loyal and easy to get on with, easier for me, as I know what they are interested in and that makes it easy to chat.

Ah, I know what happened. When they move out, there is a service in place to clean the house. Depending on price, the windows are included, the cooker alone costs about 60 quid to have cleaned. They would have either not known you were coming, or cleaned the windows before you had a chance, and stuck it on the bill.

Bit of a bad start with that custy, but not the end of the world mate. By the way, if you want more custies from the Army, get an A4 flyer stuck on the NAAFI notice board. Works really well. We also advertise in garrison newspapers, that really generates work.

ours pay 420 quid for the march out clean, this doesnt include the cooker which is a extra 140 quid

cozy im in ripon near to cattric and topcliff garison
thing is i cleaned the windows they were dirty with bird muck on
wfp the top and bottoms dry of with micro top job they say they cleaned them and got
muck off and i was nowear to be seen so this ones got to go to be honest ive never
been able to make out of mod but never tryed much either prefer out in the villages
where that way im the only idiot

If you don't feel comfortable doing Army quaters mate and you have no idea how they tick, then sod 'em, there sounds like you have enough work to do in the sticks. It is easier for ex squaddies to work with forces. Over here they get money shoved up their jacksies, tax free fuel,cigs, booze etc, so we can charge higher than usual prices.

If you get any recomends off them, then I would follow it up mate, they spread the word pretty fast between themselves.

By the way, my wife was living in Catterick in 96 to 98, Roman Crescent, were you her WC?

no mate been a wc for 10 yrs but mostly round here.
moved a lot of work out to villages and out of town for wfp cant get custys
or big jobs have to go further a field
