Hi, have been drive cleaning around Birmingham for a while now but am looking for another income, is all the talk on here about gutter cleaning correct or just hype?? some of the cash quoted for jobs seems to good to be true or am I just out of touch with what people will pay for such a service? Seen a couple of systems out there whats best? omnivac or polarbrites style, price differences sugest one over the other or is it just more money for flasher looking kit? On a different subject how much is a good website these days? and where do you find a good designer? Any help would be welcome. Plus if you are a jetwasher have you noticed people wanting it done cheaper and cheaper?
Cant wait for the crunch to end then all the cowboys can go back to factory, banking and office work.

Hi JM, i did what you are thinking of!   added to my business with the Omnivac... after reading all the Q & A on here anyone would believe that all that is needed is a gutter vac & hey presto !  money on tap lol.

however if you feel that it is a sound investment then go for it ( i did)  but i must be honest although i have now got my ROI  it was very difficult because i believe that this work will only make good money on commercial clean (which i am only just starting to get)  and residential will only be pocket money??


websites whether own made or pro design will only bring work if they have the right words to encourage a perspective client,  paying for an all singing all dancing pro site hasn't bought me any more hits than my bog standard freeby.

Over the last few weeks have had plenty of gutter cleaning including commercial gutters
I use the omnivac and on most occaisions this has been sufficent.
I also have a professional website designed for £200.

Have had 10,000 leaflets created for the winter /autumn and i find even now throughout the summer people dont notice the gardens growing within there gutters, so hopefully the leaflets will trigger them to look

Ive did one yesterday ,one today , Ive got two tomorrow and one in for next week do all mine by hand i do it as a complete gutter clean inside then clean all the outside as well as the fascia, i get any where between £60 to £120 for the job only takes 4/5 hours tops to do depending on size all ways do a good job and never had one complaint  still got another two to book in and people are always asking

Hey Free2flow,    yeah recieved email regarding SEO...  as for the commercial gutters, it's just the ordinary numbers game, the more you contact the more you will eventually get.

But what i have found out just recently is the omnivac will not clean every type    i had to hire a cherry picker & operative recently which gave me very little profit) , but it's all a learning curve & the backend marketing from that job will bring in the rewards... hopefully lol

Thnx for the info Amberini and gutterman. Free2flow,we got commercial work mainly thru recommendations, did  BMW garage last week after doing there sales managers drive and his mom n dads drive.

Amberini thats what concerns me after reading on here that as soon as you get a vac the money rolls in, I just dont see that happening. Domestic work as you say can only be pocket money, cant see how you can charge the domestic market big money when someone with a ladder will do it for nowt, think the only money would be in  commercial market, still I think it may be a reasonable add on for the drive cleaning side, maybe offer drive customers a discount for doing the gutters when you go back to sand the drive? Any other info or ideas on gutter cleaning would be most welcome. thnx

My flyer covers all aspects of my business pressure washing/upvc cleaning on one side
Gutter cleaning on the reverse , i have focused on health and safety aspect eg Dont Risk a Fall give us a call- Gutter cleaning can seriously damage your health as well as your property.
The unique selling point is access above eg Conservatorys- extensions etc.
No damage to rooftiles by standing /climbing over.

P.S. I'm looking to restrict my business to domestic. I don''t want the fuss of method statements etc.

Hi rob,    to be honest i dont know what type of gutters they are called (Just Deep?)   i have also had a couple of residential that i couldn't do at first due to the tile being to far over the gutter... i got arround this by adapting a plastic pipe to fit into them

I use a spike and a 24ft lance on a pressure washer to clean the guttering, just finished 2 today. £80 and £120. not bad for a days work.
