This video shows how to use a lobby brush (one with very long, compact bristles) dipped in TFR to loosen the dirt and then hose off to leave everything sparkling clean. The magic is in the brush which can get into all the nooks and crannies behind the gutters and into the brackets.

The video shows cleaning a bungalow, but it works just as well on a 2 storey house. The limit is how high you can spray the water.

This is the fastest and most effective way of doing this work I've found.

i think if you run a micro hose inside a 35/40ft pole a top it off with a fan jet. you could extend your scope to 3/4 storys with ease

couldnt comment really could not see the gutters to see how clean they are.
 anyway if they didnt have an outside tap how would you hose it off.   ?

Why not buy a pressure washer with a 27ft lance, spray on the TFR then blast with normal water or for the more stubban stains use a detergent in the washer.

i just use purewater i find im far quicker than when i was messing
around with tfr

I have a converted harris pole with a sprayer on for TFR or similar.

I could change the brush head on it and add a clip for a hose pipe. Then i could spray on the TFR, give it a rub over with the brush, then turn on the hose.

Nice idea Wally might save me some time and give a better result

Why use a pressure washer when a regular hose pipe will do?

I'd toyed with the idea of doing something similar.

My idea was to run a hose pipe up the middle of the Harris pole and put a soap dispenser in the line. Then I could:

1 - spray with soap solution
2 - Scrub with the lobby brush
3 - rinse off with the hose.

When I tried rigging one up, it was too heavy and cumbersome.

The Harris pole brush just gets dipped into the TFR. There's no hose trailing behind to fall over or get covered in dog poo etc.

This was my idea before I went the pressure washer route because if there is one thing I hate and that is having to have different tools laying around a job, so I converted a 3m Harris pole so it connected to custy's tap and added the spray bottle so I could add ecover when ever I wanted without stopping to pick up another tool, this method was also good on conservatory roofs.

Now the pressure washer and lance has taken its place because I can do the insides of the guttering with the same tool, Time is money and the more tools you need out on a job the longer it takes.

You can see the difference the pressure washer makes by looking at next doors soffits, I got the Job next door a week later, the  lance is hard work but once you get the hang of it you can fly around a house.
How do you find your method on higher work? With your brush and getting the jet to swill it off?

The brush is no problem, but the jet can be quite fun ... especially in a strong breeze!


Hey Jeff, The Harris pole is excellent. It looks really well-made and "fit for purpose."

I also like the look of the lance. Tell me something; could it be used effectively on mains pressure straight from a tap?

I ask because I had a real cheap pressure washer that died the death a few years ago. Afterwards, I used the lance on a hosepipe to clean the van. Of course, the pressure wasn't the same as from a machine, but it was enough to blast dirt from inside the wheel arches.

It looks like a lance would be a better way of getting to high places than trying to direct a jet from the ground.

I don't want to go cluttering up my life with a pressure washer, but a lance by itself .... maybe.

I don't use that method any more and pole I removed that jet you see on it and just stuck a rose on the end that came with the pressure bottle from B&Q  that now gets my ecover onto conservatory roofs.

The lance has a pressure hose built into it and has the standard pressure washer fitting on the end but I can't see any reason why you can't add/remove fittings to convert it to a custy's tap and I suppose with the Jets fitted you could get a decent spray from it to swill the guttering I suppose in a way you could eaily convert it so you could also spray your tfr up high as well.
