Oxidised frames most likely. Rub your finger over the frame of the offending window, if it's white, then that's the issue.

Are you wfp or trad?

so what do you do with it?

On first cleans I really give the frames a good scrub and then re-start and do the glass only.

On subsequent cleans after I wash the windows I make sure I rinse the glass only, making sure I don't rinse frame and glass.

It seems to work, but I don't/can't check, but I've not had any complaints for... well a few years at least.

Seems fine if you rinse well. Which is understandable really.

Isnt that what we're meant to do, rinse well?

It always comes back so just ignore the frames, and just do the glass. If they have black gaskets they should be allright, if you are accurate enough with the brush of course.
