Maplins Q & A regarding the unit
Q- Is the wireless LCD reciever on the N79GQ kit, battery powered? or does it need constant AC power?   - Steve Gordge

Answer- This requires constant power.

Q- it this system motion sensitive? - aat

Answer- No sorry this product does not support that.

Q- Can further camera's or camera stands be purchased? - Tim

Answer- Unfortunately we do not stock additional cameras or stands.

Q- does the reciever have a SD card slot - Goback98

Answer- No this product does not support that feature.

I dare say the maplin unit  is a good budget alternative to our camera system but it is not a like for like comparison for example clients cannot be provided with recordings on dvd or sent by pc to prove the cleaning has been performed.
Our system provides the features required in the questions and provides  broadcast quality recordings which are required by property management departments, surveyors, local authorities etc.
To sum up the maplin unit is a viewing device only.

I think most people realise that  ::)

thats why I bought it to just view on as I'm not interested in gimmicks and who wants to sit and watch a DVD of the insides of gutters ?   would put me off my popcorn.

so to re-sum  its a great add on for just £129.99  and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

as the tech guy at Sony said  your only viewing the insides of gutters so why pay £500 -£600 to do that when you can pay £130     best advice comes cheaply

Property managers and freehold managers very often require a copy of the gutter cleaning footage as proof the work has throughly been carried out for their clients.
It is also usefull as a safeguard for the contractor when a customer calls a few months latter after a heavy rainfull saying the job wasnt carried out fully because some gutters overflowed the dvd footage is proof.

I totally agree, I think the more expensive system is indeed the one to have for commercial and local governnment contracts, but for residential cleans I think the more basic Maplins one will suffice.

Omi vac system camera is horrendously overpriced. The camera is good quality and performs really well but not for the money. You need to use the Vac tube for the camera and its way too heavy to control effectively. We have been using a fishing pole made of glass fibre instead but we cant get to the height of the vac tube and we are left with the cable trailing every where which is not good. I would say the Omni Vac boys have got to come up with a better solution. Their customer service is a bit limp, nothing worse than being asked for your number every time you call up, why dont they get some customer relationship software, oh and dont try to blame the customer when a piece of rubbish pressure washer blows up and hugely inconveniences someone who just gave you 6K. Other than that , nice kit!

Glyn - I have your camera kit, is there a way to take still pictures?

Put your footage through a video editing suite and you can take any stills from that.
