« on: August 24, 2009, 08:55:28 pm »
what do you reckon is the best brush head to use on guttering and fascias
cleaning is, ie  flocked or unflocked ? or viken or other makes ?, and the best
position of jets on brush   ? or what size of brush head  ?
there must be some people who do these jobs, must have some sort of advice
with their experiance. i would be greatful if you can help, because i have loads of these jobs coming up and would like to be  prepared.
cheers
kind regards

my original wfp is buggered so i am converting a harris pole just for a quick measure, dont want to waste money on proper new one, just in case i can work out what is wrong ( well my mate would when he gets back from holiday )
with my other one. i am just going to connect to garden tap.  i was using a trolley set up but no point for guttering and fascias.

i dont know if this helps i'm using one of those brushs you get for cleaning cars, i fixed two windscreen jets to the brush and then fixed the brush to a extending 30ft aluminium pole with 6mm microbore down through the pole, the bristles on the brush are 4in long ideal for the nooks and bits on guttering, after 2 years and many jobs its never let me down. :)

Don't use a vikan or similar. Get the best lightest brush out there. That is gardiners superlite brush.
Fascia work is easy with wfp, but gutter work is harder, cos you need to have the brush upside down to clean the outsides.
Its harder work pushing against gravity to clean anything. Make it as easy as you can. Your body will appreciate it.

You seem to be thinking/worrying about it too much.

Yes a light brush, but no need to go overboard with anything else like flocked/unflocked. Its plastic mate, just scrub it.

Position of nozzles ???

Get the brush up there and give it a go. Its easy.

This is my guttering/fascia brush. It's on the end of a Harris pole and works perfectly.

It gets right up between the gutter and fascia board and into all the nooks and crannies of the brackets.

Why buy an extra brush when you can use a window cleaning brush. (i assume your considering expense here; but an extra brush unnecessarily bought is an unnecessary expense)

Not that price was mentioned in the original post, but as you bring it up..............

If you're using a sill brush and cant do it effectively any other way without getting wet you need to practise your technique.

this looks quite a niffty brush but has it got any jets on it to wash dirt away ?.

also do i have to put the jets in myself and how and what bits do i have to buy.?
also what size tubing do i need to buy and what length  ?, i was thinking the longer the better because its better to carry the small tubing around than the big garden hose. is there a right diametre to get and for what reason?

i also understand that a semi stiff bristle brush is best for the guttering but what are these brushes called, i think i like the sound of the sill brushes because they come out at nearly all angles and would imagin they are quite stiff, but i dont know for sure,if someone can tell me that would be great.
thanks for all your input people, its nice to know there are people out there who gives good advice. thanks again.

i use gardiners superlite brush for everything. Much better bristles than vikan, bentley and ionics brushes for getting in the nooks and crannies.
I found the vikan ok until i used this one. But the bristles on a vikan are too stiff.
The bentley is crap. No scrubbing power compared to others. The old ionics black brush was 2nd best.

I like it. I really like it!

Those long bristles must get up between the gutter and fascia board and into all the nooks and crannies of the brackets.

And it saves wear and tear on your expensive w/c brush.

I do quite a lot of these cleans and am looking for something easier to use....whats involved in these X-jets, and whats the complete set up you need to clean with these?

Cheers

The x-jet just hooks on the end of your pressure washer,.. simples! :)
