Had a MK1 SL-X, now have the new version...I will not bother with DIY...I just want a pole to work and make me money with no hassels...

I had a fishing pole for two years and it worked well but snapped from time to time - easily repaired - and now have an SLX. It hasn't snapped.

If budget was tight I think a cheap 20ft telescopic job for domestics and a modular fishing pole for higher jobs would be a good mix.

My SLX (35ft) covers up to 4th floor. But I use only the top 4 sections (20ft) for 90% of my work.

SL-X max & SL-2 for high work. Facelift 44 for really windy days. Hybrid x-tel and SL-X for domestic work. DIY pole for really bad arthritic flare ups simply because they are the lightest of the lot.

Mine broke so I got a new section for it and sold it as a fishing rod. Will never go down that route again.

sent my slx back after a catalog of faults with it! used my harris pole with a superlte brush on it...very light and with a reach of around 21feet and the low cost of it nothing touches it.

six light and  very usable of all the poles i have had  fibre glass and alui poles looking at the new claps
but still a great pole

im have in new clamps put on and extra section to turn my slx fro 30ft too 35ft hope is being done soon and back mid week, i still got a diy modular one broke so i went down the slx the other is still going at 47ft good old whisker pole,

unfortunately the faults were  the nuts,then a clamp coming off then the new improved nuts also split.
Gardiner's very good about it though,bent over backwards to put it right for me,but i just lost faith with the product.
i dont believe it will stand up to daily use.(and i do take care of my equipment on a daily basis.ie brushes and poles washes down after use.)
 apparently alex has some new clamps coming out look forward to see it,as i like the product just not the build quality.

The SL-X does stand up to daily use as hundreds of users have found. You did indeed have some faults which gave you a crisis in confidence, we were able to resolve this for you. Sounds like the Harris has been the solution for you.

They are not going to be new clamps just a slight improvement on the lock-nut facility on the barrel nut part, which will help prevent un-intentional over-tightening of the nuts. This will also make them a lot stronger again. This will be fully compatible with the current clamp bodies etc.
