How many of you would like to have a second van on the road?

What are you doing about it ?

At what point will you do it?

I just put my first one on and have started planning the second, It will be on the road by the end of my first year. its the chicken and egg, what comes first the van or work for it.

If you leave it until the first is working flat out, what time will you have to find and train the new tech? and should it just be one tch on the van? my plan is to have 2 or 3 part time selfemployed working it this lowers my risk for being let down and spending the time tranning somone up and then they going of on their own. male or female techs? female for me as they are less likly to do what i just said.

The othe important thing is selfemployed. got no work then you dont have to pay them. car valting and carpet fitting works this way. the trick in my view to keep them working is that I dont work flat, so I have the time market. working on and not in the business.

I remember when i first started out in selfemployment. I thought I was in business. It was not until someone said to me about working on my business and not in it that I started to see the differance. this made a big change in my day to day as in my case i stopped working stright away and started to get people to work for me.

I person did me a big favor. because I would have carried on the same old way. when you are working in your business you dont have the time to work on it because you come home after a hard day and all you want to do it just relax.

What I love is that when you have the freedom to get up in the morning and do what ever you like. you look back and think about why did I not do this before. The reason was because I did not have the time to think about it i was working so hard.

I am not bragging I just want others to not make the same mistake as me. Would you like to go and clean carpets because you wanted to not because you had to?

We are programed to work hard. but it really is working smart.

They are differene types of businesses owners and operators, and I believe that most cc's enjoy their own life/work situation and employing people is a big put off.

They are many cc out there that operate a fleet of vans and have these systems in place and make huge rewards for thier efforts, and god luck to them, personally it not for me.

Out of interest what come first,
Did you start a maid service, then expanded in cc, or vice verus.?
The maid service is this your own? or a franchised one.

Where I live we get lots of mail drops for maid services, it must be one of the biggest expanding indutries at the moment. All these mail drops seem to be franchise co's.

i think this maid game is brilliant. but i can see that one would need to do pretty powerfull background checks upon employees. .i would think insurance is pretty expensive , i dont know

I think Dom cleaning is very divers some I have seen use the one and only Henry, where others use customers equipment.

You are right re insurance expressly employees when I had it was done on turnover as you say don’t know now.

Hi Guys

The business is mine and was build with direct responce marketing. with mais services you can pick your client as they are easir to get than good staff.

I will be using one of the new genration portables Eclipse. it will be van mounted with hose reels and a ramp to off load if needed. it can run 150 ft of hose.

with regards back ground checks you do what you can, as you cant get police checks it hard but as long as you do what ever you can you have done your best. one system we have set up is if we ever had any problems. every person can pay a fee and have all the info that the police have given to them. but you can only do it on own self. so what we tell clients and staff is if there are any problems we would expecect our staff to product one of these reports to back up the checks we have done.

Insurance is about £500 a year. no bad i think. we have never had to claim as most problems are small breakages.

As employers of Care workers, we are barred from employing anyone who does'nt have a current clearance from the CRO

This was formerly known as a Police Check, but has gone from a Standard check to Advanced check which goes all the way back to teen years and reports on any existing records of misdemeanors !!

This is a legal requirement many areas of society and has prevented us from employing a considerable number of people, can be a real pain
