Can any one recommend a product to remove smoke residue from walls/ ceilings  , they are matt emulsion stippled type walls, now I do know of a number of products here in uk but the problem is the damage is is Spain Costa del sol  . My brother does a bit of work out there and has been asked if he can do this work so he rings me for some advise.
So I suppose basicly I am looking for some thing that is readily available for him out there.

all tips methods  appreciated

Geoff any high alkaline detergent will suffice. He needs to bare in mind that he'll only be removing the excess contamination not cleaning them. They will still need painting afterwards. If its stipled it will be a pig to do. Best bet would be to use a stiff brush, work it in then vac off with a wet vacuum and finish off with cloths.
