Was Thinking of going WFP
« on: August 17, 2009, 09:09:05 pm »
Was Thinking of going WFP until this evening.
Spoke to brother in Plymouth and told me he has sacked his window cleaner with pole coz it never cleaned them as good as traditional.
Then new customer rang me tonite and asked if i was traditional or use pole thingy, i told her traditional and she said good coz last cleaner scratched her glass with pole and she has had to have all new glass in.
She said i have a good chance of picking up all cul de sac because of it.

Is water fed pole more hassle than its worth

I picked up a job WFP because the previous trad cleaner broke the roof tiles (walking on the pitched roof) and caused £2000 worth of damage to room below so it swings both ways. He disappeared from the area rather rapidly and none of his customers have seen him since this event, luckily for me I'm picking up all his work now ;D

no you need to offer both services, thus leaving yourself open to the maximum amount of work

I was thinking of just using wfp when i start with it, for hard to reach windows and windows that are not safe to do trad. All other windows will be done trad.

wfp & trad is only as good as the operator.

if your rubbish so is the job you do regardless of the equipment you choose to use..

say no more..

Thats it then...I have been cleaning for 3 years (wfp) without any of these incidents but if your 2 people say thats the way it is...I shall sell my gear and go trad...best to be safe than sorry...cheers for the info..

Sorry to be sarcastic...Windy please just read some of the back posts about the differing methods...alot of 'issues' just as with life are all about the individual not the method.

Cheers
Dave.

thats how i started, but the first rainy day when you realise you can carry on and earn your money with wfp or go home with your trad gear is when  you'll be converted :o

My wfp system is already listed on ebay.

It's back to news paper and vinegar for me from now on; I can't believe my grandmother was right ;)

I've built a cart and knocked together a ladder (of sorts ) out of old timber and will be back at work on Monday. I reckon I'll be able to knock out 5 maybe 6 houses a day so no worries there.

Invest in wfp, LEARN HOW TO USE IT PROPERLY, and educate the customer on H+S.
Come and talk dirty to us!!!

I have had my wfp set up for nearly 3 weeks now, do what I did windy, clean your own windows and some of your family members houses (free) untill you get used to it mate, if your windows when dry dont look any good after  they dry , then stay trad with your custies  windows, untill you get it right! ......  practiceing on your own windows . Thats what I did now all my windows I clean wfp are 110% and custies stay happy....Barry.

With the price of systems being more afordable now lots of window cleaners can afford them. Where I live some window cleaners had bought systems and thought that it was like a  magic wand . They never checked there tds , never rinsed off . Just really did a bad job .

So when I went to quote for jobs and told them I used a pole system they were not interested and most times I did not get the job. So I went on the BWCA wfp course. That gave me the card to say I had been trained at the BWCA. It didnt make me clean the windows any better but it showed the customer that I knew what I was doing .
Most times its not the system you use just the operator who cant use it
