lost £40.00 last 3 months 1 custy £10  always been good payer now does'nt answer door can't catch her at all,  2nd custy good payer got on really well would drop money off at my house every now and then up and left nerver to be seen again , Although found off my mate who is local posty they are having mail redirected so i will invoice them and see if they are going to do the decent thing or not

best thing to do with the first customer is go on a sunday morning at round about .am and get close to the front door so they cant see who is at the door.If you know they are in just keep knocking on until they come to the door,at the end of the day you have done the work you need paying

i am now of the opinion of ditching jobs like this. I done an office and thye owe me 36 quid. It was only 2 windows and 3 pound per time. I have done it before and always ge tpaid as guy is always out when i call but he always pays me. anyway he lets office out and new guys let me do windows and they pay me some weeks whilst he is out and then they just stopped. Met  the owner and he said it's their  office as they let it and should be paying me. Feck em the place is now filthy and smile when wlaking by it each week as i do surrounding shops LOL.

The one that grates to this day is a woman who I did for ages and we were almost "friends"!

"Simon I need you to do both sides of the glass this time."

I do the job and it's "Simon, sorry I've no cash is a cheque ok?"

Me: "Of course".

Cheque duly bounces.

I pop round later that week to point out the problem to find the "To Let" sign up and on phoning the estate agent find out that she's buggered off back to Holland

We're not talking "money" here...from memory £30 or £40 but it upset me that she kicked me in the bollox...because she could!!!

i dont let this bother me so much its not like the milk round i had some of the bad ones
  haunt me to this day.

Plenty, I must admit that when its been small amounts I've just written it off diched them and moved on, the grief and energy wasted chasing the debts just is'nt worth the hassle. ( most happened when I started out )
I now insist on contact details, ie.  name and contact number, this has usually helped in chasing debts and takes less effort.

i know a plumber who no matter how little the invoice is for will pass it on to a debt recovery agency to get the money for him, it doesn't cost him anything, they add their fee to the outstanding amount! It states on the bottom of the invoice something like, 'Payment must be received within 14 days or the invoice will be passed to our debt recovery agent and thier charges will become additionally payable.' Hardly ever does someone not pay on time. So long as your not wanting to keep them as a customer, this approach could be worth a try?!
