I have a longer stick with two nails in.

So have you decided what you are doing with the van.

Googling engines as we speak.Doesn't look like a cheap job though. My Citroen Berlingo and ladders for the next week or so,unfortunately. Are the nails 6"?

transits are rust buckets.. but if you can fit the drive train of a transit into the traffic, it will last you well :D

bummer thou.. i know how frustrating van problems can be. Not had a day off with injury or illness in 2 years (touch wood, ive not jinxed myself) but i have had over 2 weeks off this year alone with van probs.

How old is your Renault? Several people on here have said the newer models are more reliable, though personally I am not tempted to find out. The traffic/primastar/vivaro seems to be the most moaned about van on the forum.

Its 2004, always been serviced and never thrashed.  It went clonk, clonk, clankety clank, clonked some more then died and stank of oil. I opened the bonnet and stared at the engine for a while and that didn't fix it. Not looking forward to work for next few days/weeks. Typical that i have a football stadium to clean Saturday and a racecourse Tuesday!

it could be summat as simple as a knackered injector,or even a split in a fuel line ,  but im sure ur spannerman will  a-see if itll crank b-determine which cylinder has the problem,,c- run a compression check  to determine is it in the head or deeper down.

Apparently was the big end bearings. Bought an engine for £1200 and fitting is £400. Thats nearly a weeks wages ha ha.
