i find it hard to price when people ask if i can clean there gutter or fachers then i give a realy low price as i dont want to lose the job the feel like kicking my self when i said the sillly price dose your conferdance get better in time with things like this i feel like ive bin done up like a kipper plus she was realy fit and had big you no whats can any one help

you need to forget that chap and just tell the price like you dont care if you get the job or not, show confidence and some backbone remember its business not pleasure

Ive done loads of underpricing on fascias and conservatorys. I now look at it and give my price - not had one say no since i stopped caring about getting the job

most of us have been there and done that.its ok when we,ve got lots of good regular window cleaning work to price higher cos we dont generally need the work but after a few of these jobs i find them a pain unless  they pay well.i usually price at least double what my normal hourly rate is.u will gain in confidence over time.make sure u got good equipment and dress fairly smartly,remember THESE JOBS TAKE U LONGER AND AWAY from ur regular work.ur doin THEM A FAVOUR.U need to change ur mind set and go into business mode and not b the milkman of human kindness and do it for next to nothing. ;Dbest wishes

get a basic price per metre of guttering for example

£3.50 for gutter fascia soffits (for 1 level) £1.50 (for ground level)

£5.50 for gutter clearance, gutters fascia and soffits. take an approximation measurement and work it out..

Make a note of any hard to reach or awkward areas and increase the price somewhat to care for that.

For conservatories once you get a few under your belt you can then see how long it takes you for the size and you can work out your own method of pricing.

Most people expect you to do a conny roof or gutters for like £20! when a more realistic price is like £80 taking into account travelling, tools, cleaning solutions etc.

As previous have said, get a good window cleaning round done, and then over price for other services.. you then dont care if you get the extra or not cos its difficult to get them fitted in.

Dont mug yourself off, you can prob earn more money by working in a warehouse!

Dont forget you dont get sick pay, holiday pay, pension etc when your SE.. you also need to take into account your business overheads such as insurance, tools and up keeps, vehicle servicing and repairs etc.

thanks for all the replys its just a bit tricky coz i dont have a very good round yet and i want the work coz it pays and have never had to do this before so wasent to sure on prises every house i do 1 or two people out of a hundred say yes and it realy makes u feel poopy and nocks the conferdance after a while but im doing quite well at it ive bin doing it for about a year for some mate but now its time to do it my self  ill go down one road and ill get five people and that makes you feel good  but i get abit   nerves when it comes to canversing you never no what nut case ur going to get lol

ive bin canversing just over a week at first i was doing quit well now im run down and everone seem to have a window cleaner and make me feel like i cant be asked dose this happen alot and dose it make other people feel like sh** seem my luck just run out any help

I started out 5 months ago and have done alot of knocking. You just have to soldier on. Yes you feel like crap when you go out and not one yes, but you will get there. 5 months on and ive got a round that im happy with and no more knocking. Chin up matey

Clancy, where are you based. Perhaps an experienced canvasser would help you out. You don't seem to have the confidence in your own ability and potential custies will pick up on this. As for business sense, it doesn't matter who you are quoting male, female. old, young, fit or not so fit. If you want your business to succeed then cut out the crass thinking and be professional

Set yourself a price guide to estimate jobs.

Just before you go to tell customer the price, repeat in your mind what price you would like for it and what price you'd be prepared to drop to. Give the customer the high price and the frequency with confidence in your voice and mannerism, then keep quiet and listen to their reaction. Let them do all the talking and reply as necessary. Get the sale, close it quickly and leave. Don't start burbling on about small talk once you've got it.
