Obviously this is one for us lowly "Porty" users !

The reason I ask is because with my Exel, I (admittedly) rarely emptied it at the end of the day and knew I was running a risk of 80-90 degrees solution drenching and scalding me should I have had to suddenly stop the van.....

I empty mine after every job, using the remaining solution mix in the tank to rinse out the waste tank - I don't want to go to the next clients home with the waste tank full of hair, fluff and silt.

I also run my vacs after every job - call me pedantic but I can't afford unnecessary replacements.

I mostly use just plain water and judge it pretty well, so I just normally suck out the remaining couple of litres.

My machine lies on its back in the van, so can't really leave anything in it!

I "time" it so that there's little solution left. Because there is always an amount of "dead" water at the bottom of the tank even when I can't spray any more (That's Ninjas for you) I usually have a little left in when travelling between jobs.

The "spare" solution in the bucket rather than the tank is used to swill out the waste tank at the end of the job.

If I mis-time it I'll suck out any excess.

Main reason is that the Ninja with tank heater and in-line heater is so damn heavy that you don't want any excess water in the machine to make it any heavier.

Last job of the day I'll completely empty the solution tank.

Always run the vacs on the last job of the day for a couple of minutes.

The Ninja sits upright in the "ambulance" so emptying it is not an issue from that point of view.

i do exactly as steve does 5 min after each job just do as routine now. then dont have to worry about cleaning machine when i get home

Am I missing something here but why would you want any water in the solution tank if you've got to move the machine in/out of van or up/down steps. Water is bleeping heavy to carry!!

Yep, same, every job, rinse waste tank with remaining water and run vacs, start with a cleanish waste tank if only to show next customer that's the waste from your carpet.

The Ninja comes with a drain hose so ideal to use the remaining solution to swill the waste tank out.

on the power flite i use the piece of hose used for priming the pump to use the left over water in the tank to swill out the waste tank. then run the vac motors with lid off for a while to help preserve them.

 when using my porty i used to flush out the waste tank after every job using the hand tool and pump switched on, and before i left i used to half fill the solution tank and plug it in to heat up while i packed the rest of the gear away, then slid machine in van and held in place with bungies
then at the next job top up the machine and by the time i'd vacuumed it was nice and hot
SAVED LOADS OF TIME  also used to do the same from home so if the client only had cold water then it was already hot from the start so adding cold to hot was'nt a prob and No wating to get to temp
