red mark on wool carpet
« on: May 07, 2005, 10:39:20 am »
Have been asked to remove red mark on a wool carpet.
Mark is about the size of a penny, and unknown.

Have tried solevnts, eco spotter and finally towel/iron method and no luck at all.

Before I totally give up, anyone got anything up their sleeves they may wish to share?

my retufting skills aren't my best. Its on a stair tread, so I guess best to sow in rather then glue, would you agree Barry?

Karl.
There are at least 7 basic methods of retufting, and glue is a last resort. The most direct (if the weave is sound) is to pluck them out and copy what the loom has done. A one inch circular mark should take you no more 45 minutes.

7 methods, I  only know 3.
I think the pluck out and sow back will be the only way out, but being a stair tread they is a fair bit of wear/colour lose, and the clint is a pain.
Not my client, but one for someone who I do a lot of work for.
