How much is a good round worth?
« on: July 22, 2009, 06:09:46 pm »
Any ideas how much a window cleaning business worth £50k per year for one man, would be worth if put up for sale?

If you are making 50K turnover as a one man band I think that is a very good round. If it was kosher, genuine and stood up to inspection I reckon I would pay £25K for that ... preferably in 4 instalments over a year.

As a seller I would want it up front but would prolly have to negotiate.
It's a game of three halves!

I'd agree with Malc, if it was well established and everything about it stood up to careful inspection then it would surely be worth half it's annual turnover.

Were it a round just built up over the last few weeks via a roundbuilder then I'd personally be very wary of even paying 3 times it's monthly value.

Also, is it only 50k for some guy who works like a trojan and can knock out 10 houses an hour!!

I wouldn't want less than 50% of my round's annual turnover should I ever feel the need to sell it, but there are so many variables to consider; like how experienced a window cleaner is the buyer? Or, does he use WFP?
If it was a total newbie then he would probably lose a lot of the business through his inexperience, and it would take him several months to get up to a reasonable standard and speed level.

If a round of that value was offered to me, and I wanted to expand my business and it ticked all the boxes then I'd certainly consider paying out 25k for it, possibly along the lines of some form of monthly payment over an agreed period of time...

Sell it as a business including phone numbers etc.

You should expect at least  2 times the annual net profit or else it isnt worth selling

if i was to ever sell my round i would only accept full payment up front and would look for at least 5x monthly turnover.

The average around here is 3-4 times the monthly.
8x someone said, you got more chance of finding rocking-horse poo than getting 8x the monthly.
Reaching parts traditional window cleaners can not reach.

Who actually would buy a round of that value?
Can't see anyone with redundancy pay willing to risk it all on something they have never tried. No newbie will have the funds. As a business it's probably cheap but who would buy it?
Mine's not to that level yet but what I have hasn't cost me a penny up to last week.

I dont want to put a downer on this,

But is this thread for real?

If you could honestly earn £50k per year with no hassle of employing,

Would you really be looking to sell?

Even if you were getting on abit surely itd be better to employ and take a back seat.

A fair price for a decent round is monthly x 4 but would you really be willing to sell this lifestyle for £16k??

I wouldnt

I plan to sell mine in 5 years so I'm taking some one on with the intention of offering them it. that way they will know what there buying and have a valid interest in helping it grow so in 5 years they will have a better round.

Am I mad you tell me.
