RISING TDS-HELP NEEDED
« on: July 21, 2009, 06:21:16 pm »
As you guys know, I am a total newb...my TDS is on the hike and I don't know how to pinpoint the problem, however, I have a fair idea...

System:

Pre-filter (new)
Merlin RO (bought 2nd hand, no idea of age)
DI Vessel (new)

TDS as follows:

Source: 335
After pre-filter: 328
After RO: 79
After DI: 18

I assume as all else is new, the RO unit needs its filters replacing?!

 ???

Try flushing your RO for about 30 minutes with water. Might just need a good clean. if poss, flush it with the DI water in your tank

possibly, yeah....You should rinse your RO out about once every 7-14 days. If you dont you will find that it doesnt work so well.
Think of your RO as a filter. It will filter out a lot of impurities but in time it will clog up so you need to clean it.

Concept that tds reading after RO is pretty high mate, it wants to be less than 25 otherwise the resin will need changing a lot.

Sounds like you need a new membrane, if the pre filters are new but the membrane 2nd hand i'd look to that.

Concept I would give it a good flush for atleast 3 hours just to make sure, if its still the same then I would get new membrane.
