I bought the 1st batch of sl-x about a year ago, sections 1 and 2 where spinning and closing on theselves when doing windows above cons,and the clamps where as tight as they could be, was really annoying me and I felt the time was approaching for it to see the end of its days, spoke to Mr Gardiner and sorted it for having a service and clamp upgrade.
Courier collected pole on Wednesday and I recieved it back today and ive got to say these new clamps are a seriously major improvement as there not crushing the carbon and I now feel I feel it will last me so much longer,

R W C is a little more special than you Lee, in that he was impatient and so got the pole back with just the new clamp bodies fitted, but with the old style levers 

Yours will be going out Wednesday or Thursday with the new style levers fitted, so I think that makes you even more special

Shame that I got mine serviced before they started putting the new clamps on them.   

Oh well, can't have it all. Still very happy with the SL-X, almost 2 years already. Wow, still doesn't show much wear.

Thanks Chris, how much does the service cost?

There will be a free clamp upgrade for older SL-X poles (MK1 & MK2).  The new clamps will be available in two forms:
 
DIY form - we send the clamps and fitting instructions to you (fitting time about 15 minutes). There will be a handling and postage charge of £7 (free if you haven't had a service before).

Workshop form - we can fit the clamps for you for a £15 charge if the pole has not had a service before or £35 if it has already had the free service, this includes picking the pole up, fitting the clamps and returning the pole to you.  Both of these options will be available on the website by next week.

Sorry Alex bet your hacked off with what ive started, but the new clamps are definatly a improvement on the pole, to be honest there the only reason I was thinking of getting a glyder or fusion but now im glad Ive ordered a new sl-x.

The new clamps use just the clamp body to grip the section. They are still sideways operated, but now have the levers across the top of the clamp body instead of down one side. They are very easy to operate and have a good adjustment range. Retro-fitting them to an old pole will give a completely new lease of life.
