Can I have your honest opinions on this package
« on: July 21, 2009, 07:38:15 am »
Its Ashbys, Sittingbourne,

http://www.carpet-cleaning-equipment.co.uk/product_details_348.htm

Its a sensei with wand and hand tool 135psi pump. 25 feet hose.

As you guys are probably aware we are expanding our carpet cleaning to another operator. Mainly residential. Small commercial work.

Or do you guys recomend something else?

Thanks for the honesty there. They have come back to me (Ashbys) and said they can put a Fixed Temperature (70ºC) Heater (PC4954) with low level safety cut off. but brings it to £1500.

I am looking at speedsters.

Any other thoughts...

I have bought 3 Sensei's in the past, 135 Pump and heater, good little machines, also have just bought a second hand Speedster from Woodbridge commercial and that is a great machine.
It depends what you need, if you need fast drying then go for a Speedster or a Ninja, the sensei the drying time will be obviously longer, also consider repeat business the better the overall job including drying time the more likely of repeat business.

Hope this helps

Thanks Kevin. Yes very good consideration on drying time.

Can anyone enlighten me on the drying times a bit more how is the speedster better in this department.

I am looking at 2 speedsters, one with a 100psi and one with a 200psi

For what it's worth I would say get a Ninja or a Speedster. But then I don't like either supplier ie Asbby or Woodbridge.

Cleansmart are very good but I'm not familiar with the machines they sell. Same goes for Craftex.

In my view it's rare to find a carpet cleaning company that is thinking long term client, rather than a take them for what we can now attitude.

Cleansmart have started selling there own machine the airflex now  two versions one with smaller pump and then a triple vac 600 psi version heard good things about the build quality and sure knowing matt the backup will be good too.

Many Truck mount operators dont consider any portable machine to be proffessional and that set up certainly cant warrant that description. If going portable you want at least twin 3 stage vacs and 100psi as a minimum.

Hi Dave, I have a Sensei and two Ninja's one 135psi and 400psi. I tend to use the Sensei for upholstery or upstairs jobs, I always use the vac booster with the Sensei to improve drying. I get good results and am well pleased with the machine.

Hi Dave,

Yes I appreciate what you are saying but I dont have enough work to warrant another TM but do have enought to warrant another Porty and an operater.

Although having used both in my own opinion a TM is over rated. Its marketing. But VERY impressive for showing the client that doesnt know how or what is required to clean a carpet correctly.

Lets face it if I turn up in a TM and a competitor is there with a Porty most go with the TM just because its BIG! They are led to believe as it is big it must do a far supierior job.

When we all know its the operator and the way they clean that is more important.

Most customers never see your truckmount till you start using it and even then they probably will only hear it.

Forget the truckmount sideline and get back to your realistic options.

I would get a decent second hand machine. You could get a 3stage 2 vac machine for a lot less than the Ashbys package and all your stuff like chems you could get from a decent supplier like Restoremate or Cleansmart.

I've noticed threads like this many times and after a marathon debate they always end up with what they originally posted. I look forward to being proved wrong.

You should also consider back up and support.

Ashby's do not score well on either, once they have sold you equipment it leaves a lot to be desired,

Agree with Dave Lee about the 2 vacs minmum some people on here will tell you different but dont listen to them 1vac is alright for spotting but not for your main machine.

Hi Guys,

Well I have spoken to many suppliers today. Yes all very nice
(Obviously they are trying to make a sale)

It very contradictive is it not? One says you need this the other say you this, My machine is far better than his.. All good and bad bits blaah blah.. its worse than buying a new car.

However I have spotted this post

http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=77866.0

I have spoken to them and they have sent me over a quotation on 2 machines.

Rhino 500 500psi - it does have a presure gauge - element
Steempro 2000 Powermax 135 psi inline heater

So I will be deciding later today.

I know that there are far supieror machines out there. But I have to consider the following for now budget, get out there and work, Monies saved can allow me to purchase either blowers, rotary etc.

Buy a Powerflight 1350 brilliant machine there is some issues with the vacs but its a top class machine.

Hi Mike you said you would be intersted to see how this thread turns out. I purchased the Rhino 500psi in the end 995 + vat but I am vat registered so its only cost £995, I purchase a hand tool as well. plus a few chemicals.

I know it may not be the top machine on the market but this will allow me to purchase other stuff while I get the operator up and running.

Darren, I had a CFR500 which was a very good machine and I didnt have too much bother with it.
But it seems the vac motors fitted these days to this type of machines are causing problems (what with the comments on another thread where it failed a PAT test).
Cant see how you can recommend them so strongly with the hassle a purchaser may have with vac motors, and if a member of staff at Amtech is abusive over the phone (again in the other thread) I certainly dont see any reason to deal with them at all.

Some of you must be easily pleased cause you dont half put up with a lot of hassle and still say "there good".
