I would eat that in 2 good days. If not being sanded, but why?
Around the £950/£1100 mark.

PS thats Wigan prices though, aren't your pavements paved in gold?

what am i i doing wrong then that this is taking too long,

i was thinking along the lines of £2-m2,

i have not used a turbo nozzle yet, will it clean at the same speed as a fsc, but will get more of the rubbish out?

If they agree to £2 per m2 then your laughing m8 thats without any chems or re-sanding.
If's its as bad as you discribe then turbo is your only way,you may have to use a bit of heat, can say without looking at the job ???

As Iv'e said before if a turbo does it quicker than a whurlaway, then theres summut wrong with either pump or whurlaway.
I'd pit my whurlaway against any turbo nozzle for big bucks

i do agree with you drivewasher in a way,but to sum it all up,if he puts in a price for £1 m2 and it takes even 5 days after costs you clear £700????????????
Not bad for a weeks work in these current times........................NO?

We wouldn't go any lower than £2250 + VAT for wash only. Time could vary but I reckon a minimum of 5 very busy days including a labourer to help tidy as you go along.

By your description a FSC will struggle so I would definitely go with a Turbo Nozzle. Take regular mini-breaks to avoid issues with too much hand / arm vibration.

Ensure decent drainage and a good flow of water or you could be in for a lot of wasted time.

Oil may be permanent to advise prior to start.

Why no sand?

My opinoin thats WAY to much.
I can assure you I would easily do that job on my own in 3 days VERY MAX with a whurlawy (custy's water flow being adequate.
If you can't manage it wth a whuraway then there's summut wrong wi it.
Anyone is welcome to come and work with me for a day or so and see.
I regulary do around 300mtrs a day on 3 or 4 seperate locations so as I said I'd eat that in 2/3 days

Hi DW

I pass on my opinion from my experience.

This is not to say that other opinions and experiences won't vary. Standards vary too as we have found from customers who have had poor experiences in the past.

To do an area of that size properly my earlier post stands.

Have you actually cleaned an area of this size or are you making an assumption based on your experience with smaller plots?

1500 sq. metres is a massive area and (in my opinion) one man with one pump cannot complete in three days.

"I regulary do around 300mtrs a day on 3 or 4 seperate locations so as I said I'd eat that in 2/3 days "

What about sanding and weedkiller?

Just to sand an apply weedkiller on 1500 metres would take two days minimum (if done properly); e.g. weedkiller via 10 litre watering-can. Each cycle takes a minimum of 8 minutes. 150 refills x 8 minutes = 20 hours.

We did 400 square metres block paving last week (me + 1). Moss and weeds all over and it took three days (two to clean and one to sand / weedkiller). Water supply was particularly bad and probably cost us half a day.

Incidentally. I am not spoiling for an arguement so no offence intended.

Regards

Ian Griffiths

About a month ago i cleaned 1100 sq metres in 3 days and sanded it in half a day.I used a turbo nozzle because no FSC will clean block better or get all the moss out as good.I charged £2 per sq metre.Mark Laycock did all the gardening for me on the job and i can tell you now,if you want a good grafter/gardener in the north west he`s your man.Dan

Ian,
No offence taken, down here we can't get anywhere near those prices!

The job doesn't require sanding, although I did ask why... no mention of weedkiller.

I did a single job last year for a sealing company It was 1200 sq mtrs I did it single handed in just under 2 days and they were by no means early starts and late finishes. the client was delighted as all my clients are. Oh and I don't normaly give figures but i charge him £1 per sq mtr normally, but as this was a bigger job he negotiated me down to 75 pence for 2 days work I was happy, no measuring or pricing, no sanding and no going back for payment when custy is home.

(In actuall fact it was something like 1120 sq mtrs)

To be fair I must point out that I work from a van mounted pump and holding tank. I have about 11 10mtr (includes a couple of 15mtr) HP hoses and 3 x  35 mtr water hose reels. When I get to job I jump out of van connect to tap pull whurlaway out grease it then start cleaning.
The job above was right next to a water pumping station and the flow was fantastic I'd say about 23 litres a min. but if water is less than 15 ltrs a min I use the time waiting for tank fills brushing up and moving stuff.

Re weed killer,
I put enough crystals for 25ltrs in a 25ltr drum with 5ltrs of water screw the cap on, give it a good shaking to mix. then top drum up to 25ltrs. I have a watering can with an upturned rose so the undisolved crystals dont block the small holes. I fill can with a large square funnell on the driveway so spils don't matter. this method is quick so in warm weather the bit youv'e just done doesn't get chance to dry so you know where your'e up to
