Could it be anything to do with the election?

Hi Guys,

I have noticed that my old customer network is working well but my leaflet response is definitely down.

I remember in the past that a tight election depresses work and we haven't had one for a while, I think it's fear of uncertainty.

look out 2010,

Cheers,

Doug

p.s It will soon pick up as the economy is pretty sound.

Can't see the result of an Election would have any bearing on whether a customer has her carpets cleaned or not.

i dont really think it matters who wins but because mental ability to listen and recall is a few seconds, people are being blasted minute by minute with election news alot of people switch off there normal buying behaviour, cause they are unable to take in any more suggestions thrown at them .our advertising takes a dip this past week pro rata replies due to the i cant take listen look any more overload of info

Magic carpet.
If you are serious about long time involvement in the trade then look at your skills, your leaflets cost the same no matter what you say on them, the time spent dealing with inquierys and then travelling to the job, these are all fixed costs,if you dont do soil/stain resist treatment, oriental rugs, curtains, if you can't do a simple cigarette burn repair, oversew the worn piping on a 3 peice suite, if you have nothing to take up the slack, then think on.

Consumer spending is down.

Leaflet response could be down as Political Parties constantly leaflet.

Seriously..... it is a bit quiet for the time of year...most straight talking cc are saying it...i do think its do to with the election in a way...fear of the unknown and all that ...i agree with ian... leaflets thru my door have gone up tenfold in the last 3 weeks or so.

Could be a general slow down in the economy or at least a hesitation to spend.

Over the past few weeks theres been Rover, Index and today IBM all shedding thousands of jobs.

Loads more new carpet cleaners then >:(
