« on: July 07, 2009, 08:34:30 pm »
how many of you lads out there are on meters? And how much extra compared to rates are you paying? ROUGHLY? ??? I use around 1000l + a week and produce all my pure water via a 40/40 ro set up. I am at present the only one left in my road without a meter? Noisy neighbours have been asking a few questions about my water consumsion noisy f@@@ers just wondered what the extra cost would work out at?

Depending on the ratio of filtrate to waste water your system produces, it can be very expensive indeed. e.g if your system is discarding water at a ratio of 3:2 you will be drawing 5000 liters for every 2000 you produce as filtrate, add sewerage charges and you can see what i mean.

On the bright side if you keep accurate records your accountant should put some of your bill through the books.

But why in your position would you volunteer to have a meter fitted? Just because the rest of the road does? You are doing nothing wrong.

Hi. I worked mine cost out at 0.006p per litre based on my true water charge. But if you have a water meter fitted on an outside tap and tell the water board its for your garden you wont be charge for the sewerage part of the bill.
Mart.
