so much for the recession....

quoted a set of windows the other day, my price was £22, husband says no our current guy is £15.
so fair enough but he did what fascia and spoutings washed.

So went back yesterday and did the fascia work, whilst there the wife came out and said that she wanted me to do the windows as she was unhappy with current cleaner.

So desipte knowing that i was considerably dearer they went with me. So just goes to show that people are still willing to spend money if they think they are getting what they want.

heres a thought.... with all the new"window cleaners" going round offering their services,  people are maybe becoming used to the idea of getting there windows cleaned, but then get fed up with sub standard work....then they call us......... *que superman music and a gleaming window cleaner flying in to save the day!!*

I can honestly say that i have picked up more work in these so called troubled times than i ever have done.

Been subbing alot for a large office commercial cleaning firm, my workload has gone up ten fold in the last 6 months and is set to continue roll on roll on.

June was my highest earning month ever and by a fair margin.  Mind you, most of my better paying work fell in the same month this time.  July will be rather lower.

Recession is a load of rubbish in my honest opinion, loads of scare mongerin (if thats how you spell it?)

And people who say "we're cutting back because of recession" are liars in my opinion and using it to their advantage. All these cut backs in jobs are employers going "hmmm we need to make some cut backs ... lets get rid of our useless workers"

If there is such a thing as recession, the press have made one, people cutting back having a knock on affect in all buisness because of it, if no one said anything nothing would of happened. Simple

Recession is happening that`s a fact to much borrowing on mortgages loans people are unable to pay,no doubt it`s the fault of the banks and TV and press don`t help but we are in a recession it won`t seem like it to some us because it hasn`t affected us as individuals.

Although we seem to escape most of the worst bits (for now anyway), it does make a difference.  New enquiries have slowed down.  There have been a few cancellations too.  A lot of my customers work at Gatwick Airport (or the airport supply industries) and there are big layoffs pending there soon.  Others are building workers.  I'm surprised that I've had such a low level of cancellations so far.  Of course, some of those unemployed become W/Cs as well.  Smaller market with more people wanting the work.  Some of them a bit desperate so working too cheaply.  Even some who should know better doing it too.  But still I'm working close to capacity.  I'm astonished.

I agree with this.  Yes their maybe a economic downturn but a lot of this recession has been made out to be really bad by the media.

i would say mever take anything fro granted while times are good put some aside just incase you have some bad times(short fall in work or a accident) so if it ever gets tough your prepeared and dont end in the poo.

Has for the recession my turnover has nearly doubled since it was first mentioned but i always expect the worse.....who knows whats round the corner

Just save like you know you'll not be working for 4 weeks in the freezing winter we may get again this year.
