Hi, just wondered if anybody has any advice.

I have 2 super lite pole section stuck together!! Anybody else had this happen and any tip's on getting them seperated?

I did try twisting it with 2 men on each section!! very strong carbon but didn't budge an inch.

we were, we have been messing aroung now for ages so before spending money on replacement just thought someone may have a suggestion!

happen's most time's we use the superlite but never has happened this bad, usually 2 men can seperate them.

we do make sure we use the special spray etc that comes with the pole but it still happens.

Can happen if you don't lubricate the tapers and push them hard together especially when wet. Usually twist apart clockwise I believe with rubber gloves. Hold near the join so you don't waste effort bending the sections and only squeeze hard enough to stop your hands slipping. A squirt in the joint with wd40 may help.
Jamming can be prevented with electrical tape.

Mine has its momments but not that often, i mae sure the sections arent rammed together, just a gentle slide on is ample.

Persevere with it, squirt of wd as suggested might help.

I wonder, if all else fails if two of those rubber wrenches could be used, you know the sort that open jars for old people? The only problem would be that the cam action could crush the section as they may be self tightening?
Don't tell anyone I told you just in case it doesn't work

Spray it tonight so that it runs down the inside walls in the joint and leave it upright 'till morning.

Found this from another forum from Alex G himself..

The best way to get the two sections apart is to use two people and rubber gloves. Get one strong person to hold the top section firmly (without crushing), make sure they hold the section above the joint overlap. The second person needs to then hold the lower section as close to the joint as possible and twist the section in a clockwise direction (this will look like you are turning it the wrong way!). Do not try to pull the section apart at all, as soon as a little twisting happens then you can start to exert some pulling force, but still mainly twisting. If this is to no avail then some heat may help. A heat gun lightly applied will help with this process.

Once they have separated we use Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline!) which seems to reduce the friction after extended work periods. However, it needs to be used sparingly. After applying PTFE spray, wipe a very thin layer over the male joints. It seems to give more friction to the joint on light contact which is good as it grips without needing to be tight, but then even under pressure it allows the joint to separate with greater ease. I'm finding that it only needs re-applying every couple of months.

Read the manual, prepare the pole as given in the instructions.  Practise using it at height in your back garden before attempting it first time on a job.  I always store Sections 1-5 in Section 6.  This sticks slightly out of the holdall but makes it easy for assembling on the job.

Slumpy, assemble your sections gently at home then wrap a couple of turns of electrical tape up to the join edge to stop the taper going in any further. You may not need to do it but it will prevent any jam normally caused when you accidentaly tap the ground when working. I use the base sections for my vac and they are very dirty when put together and they still don't jam.
Provided you don't put much tape on most sections will still store inside one another.

NO NO NO NO NO!!

Get the hairdryer out and heat the overlapping section, as soon as it starts to heat it will expand, the inner section will remain much cooler and therefore will not expand as much.

the sections will therefore come apart much easier.

this is a fairly common problem with carbon fishong poles especially in wet weather what we normaly do is one man on each end as previosly said twisting in opposite directions but you also need a third man gently tapping the joint wilst the turning is in progress. to stop this becoming a problem you need to clean the muck out of the joinning sections. hope this helps

not sure of that Tony, they compress in long use at height the slight movement gradually allowing gravity and the weight of the pole to lock solid. Its not muck, its useing it. As above wrap tape to make a "buffer".
Hows it going Purevision, tried heat yet ?

Good point there Jeff, I stuck a couple of sections before and at the time I thought it was because it was too well lubricated. Sounds daft I know but because the joint was so slippery it allowed the male end to slide further in than normal.
